Now reading: Chapter 14: Skadi’s Vermin from Heir of Mana:Beast made king, a Fantasy novel by Nihilust.

As Azrael and Olivia finally descended to floor 50, they noticed it was really silent.

But as they ventured deeper into the floor, they began to notice sothing else.

The walls were covered in a thick, shining blue silk, and the air was filled with the faint scent of ice and snow.

Olivia’s eyes narrowed as she examined the silk.

"This silk is as tough as stone and beautiful."

Azrael’s eyes scanned the area, his hand tightening around the shaft of his spear. And then they saw it.

Subject Identified: [Skadi’s Vermin]

Mana Core: one star Feral (Dark Gray)

Threat Level: D (They can easily overwhelm you; they travel in very large groups.)

Description: An imitation of what Skadi spent her ti raising. They are not even worthy of using her na, and yet they still do; they can be classified as nothing more than vermin.

Walking off of the snow was a small spider as large as a dog. Its six big eyes glowed with an unnatural blue light, and its fangs were dripping with venom.

But it was the spider’s icicle fans that really caught their attention. Long, thin icicles protruded from the spider’s back, glinting in the dim light.

But they couldn’t focus on it for too long because a couple of seconds later another one appeared, then another. This kept going until the only thing they could see were spiders.

The spiders opened their mouths, showing their fangs, and in their mouths was a blue sticky liquid that seed to sizzle and bubble as it ran down their jaws and hit the snow.

Azrael got ready, his spear flashing in the dim light.

He focused on feeling the familiar surge of energy as he manipulated the gravitational forces around him.

He made himself slightly lighter, feeling his feet lift off the ground as he beca more agile and nimble.

At the sa ti, he made his spear slightly heavier, feeling the weight of it settle into his hands like a comforting presence.

The spear’s tip seed to drop slightly, as if it was being pulled down by an invisible force.

With his spear at the ready, he charged forward, his lighter body allowing him to dodge and weave between the spiders’ attacks with ease.

He struck out with his spear, the heavier tip biting deep into the spiders’ flesh.

The spiders screeched in pain as Azrael’s spear sliced through them, their bodies crashing to the ground with a sickening thud.

Olivia fought in tandem with Azrael, her sword flashing, cutting each spider she passed, but this ti her poison wasn’t working as effectively as before.

She had to actually cut them apart to kill them now.

Her poison is only making them slower, not killing them like it did with the wolves.

Put even with the both of them killing spider after spider, it was like the horde never ended

And they couldn’t afford to be bitten even once because the spiders were obviously poisonous. And Olivia could control the poison; she had never seen this one before, so it would take so ti to get rid of it. Ahhhhh!

Feeling I burn and sting sensation on his shoulder Azrael looked up at the Ceiling

And saw the very sa spiders they were killing in front of them on the ceiling spinning their blue iron like silk

But at the sa ti opening their mouth letting their poisonous saliva drip down

Focusing his mana he used attraction to pull the spiders down as hard as he could with gravity Making them crash into the spider from the ground turning their bodies to paste killing them

What even if this there was no Shortage of spiders they just kept coming It was almost like they were infinite

But even so Azrael and Olivia pressed on Continuing to kill all spiders that ca in their field of vision

Azrael and Olivia worked together seamlessly, their movents a testant to their growing trust and confidence in each other.

They fought on, their sword and spear flashing in the dim light, their determination to survive and thrive in this deadly dungeon burning brighter with every passing mont.

Their movents beca more fluid and synchronized, their attacks and defenses working together in perfect harmony.

They were a well-oiled machine, cutting through the spider-infested floor with ease.

But even the most skilled warriors needed rest, and after hours of non-stop fighting, Azrael and Olivia finally began to feel the weight of their exhaustion.

But luckily for them It look like the almost infinite part was starting to cut down Until finally the last spider fell.

I’m getting tired of spiders," Olivia said finally, her voice laced with disgust.

Azrael chuckled, his eyes scanning the surrounding area. "I think we’re both tired of spiders," he said.

Olivia nodded, her eyes drooping with exhaustion. "You’re right," she said. "But just for a little while, can we please just rest?"

Azrael smiled, his eyes softening with compassion. "Of course," he said. "We can rest for a bit. But just a bit."

And with that, they settled in for a well-deserved rest, their weary bodies grateful for the brief respite from the non-stop fighting.

As they rested, Azrael and Olivia took turns keeping watch, their eyes scanning the surrounding area for any signs of danger.

Despite the eerie atmosphere, they both felt a sense of relief wash over them as they rested.

Their bodies were tired, their muscles aching from the constant fighting, but their spirits remained high.

Olivia, sensing Azrael’s gaze, turned to him and smiled. "What are you thinking about?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Azrael’s eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled back. "Just thinking about how we make a pretty good team, don’t we?"

Olivia’s smile grew wider, her eyes sparkling with amusent

The mont hung between them, as they sat in silence But not the awkward type of silence type.

No it was

The type of silence where your so comfortable with soone you don’t have to say a word
