Tuesday evening arrived and Kai made his way to the expedition eting room in the academy’s administrative building. The room was larger than he expected, with a long table in the center and maps of the Thornvale Ruins spread across one wall.

Seraphina was already there, talking animatedly with a group of older students. She spotted Kai and waved him over.

"Kai! Co et everyone!"

Kai approached reluctantly as twelve pairs of eyes turned to assess him. The senior students ranged from curious to skeptical, clearly trying to reconcile the rumors about his abilities with his unremarkable appearance.

"Everyone, this is Kai Wraith," Seraphina announced. "He’s the other additional support for the expedition."

A tall woman with short black hair nad Mira Chen, one of the team leaders stepped forward. "We t briefly in Henrik’s office. First year, House Ascendant, correct?"

"Yes."

"And you’re the one who blocked Seraphina’s Blazing Cot technique during sparring?" This ca from a muscular third-year with red hair tied back in a ponytail.

"Yes."

"Bullshit," the red-haired student said bluntly. "No offense, but I’ve been training for three years and I couldn’t block that technique if my life depended on it. You’re either lying about what happened, or there’s sothing very unusual about you."

"It’s not bullshit, Derek," Seraphina said firmly. "I was there. He blocked it cleanly."

Derek crossed his arms skeptically. "Then I want to see proof. Let’s spar right now."

"We’re not here to spar," Mira interrupted. "We’re here to coordinate for the expedition. Derek, sit down."

Derek grumbled but complied begrudgingly. Kai found an empty chair at the table while the other students continued sizing him up.

Ben, the other team leader, stood at the head of the table. "Alright, let’s get started. Introductions first. I am Ben, a fourth-year combat specialist and current team leader. I’ll be coordinating dungeon tactics and combat formations."

Mira went next. "Mira Chen, fourth-year support mage, co-team leader. I handle logistics, supplies, and healing support."

They went around the table. Derek was a third-year combat specialist focusing on fire and earth techniques. A quiet girl nad Lin was a third-year with water and ice affinities. A stocky boy nad Roland specialized in defensive techniques and barrier creation.

The introductions continued with each student providing their na, year, and specialty. Kai noted the team composition carefully. There were four pure combat specialists, three support mages, two utility essence users who could handle scouting and trap detection, and three balanced fighters who could switch between offense and support as needed.

When they reached Kai, everyone looked at him expectantly, probably thinking he would give so sort of epic statent but they would only be badly disappointed

"I’m Kai Wraith. A second-year and a combat generalist."

(A/N: Kai is a second year T_T I made a mistake in earlier Chapters.)

"Combat generalist?" Derek scoffed. "That’s vague. What’s your actual specialty?"

"I don’t have any."

"Everyone specializes in sothing. What elent do you primarily use?"

Kai considered how to answer that without revealing too much. "I use multiple elents depending on the situation."

"So you’re a jack of all trades, master of none?" Derek’s tone sounded like he was insulting him rather that it being a complint.

"Sothing like that."

Seraphina went last. "I’m Seraphina Ashenheart, second-year, fire specialist and close combat. I’m here as additional offensive power and to gain real dungeon experience."

Marcus cleared his throat. "Now that introductions are done, let’s discuss the expedition structure. Master Henrik will have overall command, but in dungeon situations, Mira and I make tactical decisions. Is everyone clear on chain of command?"

In response everyone nodded their head around the table.

"Good. The Thornvale Ruins have five levels. We’ll be clearing levels one through three over three days. Our standard formation will be combat specialists at the front and rear, support in the middle, scouts ranging ahead." Marcus pointed at the maps. "Level one is mostly low-threat monsters like essence rats, minor slis and occasional goblins. Just for good warmup and team coordination practice."

"At level two monsters gets more interesting," Mira continued. "We might battle monsters like shadow wolves, stone golems, and cave spiders. These require actual tactics and coordination. We will spend most of day two here, ensuring everyone’s comfortable working together before moving deeper."

"Level three is where it gets serious," Marcus said. "There the monsters are stronger than both level one and level two floor due to them adapting to the harsh environnt there so they are relatively stronger."

On level three we might go against fire salamanders, corrupted treants, and potentially a floor guardian if we push deep enough. This is comparable to B-rank rcenary work. We’ll only tackle this if the team is performing well on level two."

Derek raised his hand. "What about levels four and five?"

"Those are off limits," Master Henrik’s voice ca from the doorway. He entered the room and everyone straightened slightly.

"Unless ergency circumstances forces us to go deeper, we do not go past level three. Floor level four contains monsters that have killed experienced rcenaries in the past. Level five is partially unmapped and extrely dangerous, we don’t even have our way around the area so that is an absolute no. Clear?"

"Clear, Master Henrik," the students chorused.

Henrik moved to the head of the table. "This expedition has two primary objectives. The first is to provide real combat experience in a monitored but genuinely dangerous environnt. Second is to assess your ability to function as a cohesive team under pressure. How you perform will be noted in your academy records and may influence post-graduation opportunities."

That got everyone’s attention. Post-graduation opportunities ant military recruitnt, rcenary guild placents, or noble house contracts, they were all highly desirable positions that every student would love to cling on to.

"Now, let’s discuss about the equipnt and supplies," Henrik continued. "We were only given standard dungeon kit includes which includes a few things although not as much as he might need it’s enough..."
