"I am going to lose my mind," Xin Yi muttered, aggressively yanking a stubborn green root out of the dry savanna dirt.
It had been exactly seven days since they left the Neutral Zone.
Seven days of traveling. Seven days of dry, scorching heat. And most agonizingly, seven days of listening to three apex predators act like overgrown, violently jealous toddlers.
"I cannot do this anymore," she whispered, tossing the herb into her woven basket.
"If I have to listen to Sha Chen make one more sarcastic comnt about Qing Lin’s cold blood, or watch Hei Yan growl every ti the wolf breathes in my direction, I am going to walk into the wilderness and let a vulture eat ."
Thank the heavens Feng Huang had decided to stay behind to "supervise the female wolves." If that flirtatious flaming tiger had co along, Xin Yi was sure she would have thrown herself off a cliff by day three.

Xin Yi rolled her eyes, reaching for another leafy plant.
She was just about to complain to the System again when a sudden, chilling notification flashed in bright red across her vision.
[BEEP! BEEP!]

Xin Yi froze.
The hair on the back of her neck stood up.
The wind shifted, and suddenly, the distinct, overwhelming scent of wild musk hit her nose.
Before she could even turn her head, the tall elephant grass exploded.
A massive, golden blur launched itself out of the darkness, hurtling straight toward her with terrifying speed.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" Xin Yi shrieked panic taking over.
System! Inventory! WEAPON!
[Ding! Accessing Inventory...]
A flash of blue light illuminated the grass.
Instantly, a heavy, cast-iron frying pan she materialized directly into her right hand.
The giant beast-man was mid-air, his massive hands reaching out to grab her, a victorious grin plastered across his handso face.
Xin Yi squeezed her eyes shut, planted her feet, and swung the iron pan with every single ounce of strength she possessed.
PANG!!!!!
The resounding, tallic clang echoed across the silent savanna like a temple bell.
The sheer force of the blow stopped the massive golden man dead in his tracks.
"Ughh," he groaned, his eyes rolling back.
He dropped out of the air like a sack of potatoes, landing face-first in the dirt right at Xin Yi’s feet.
A cloud of dust puffed up around him.
Xin Yi stood there, her chest heaving violently, the frying pan trembling in her grip.
She stared down at the giant, completely naked man lying motionless in the dirt.

But Xin Yi wasn’t celebrating.
The realization of what just happened washed over her. She was in an unknown territory, and she had just whacked a wild beastman in the face.
What if he had friends?!
"Waaaaaa!" Xin Yi cried out, terrified tears prickling the corners of her eyes. She dropped the frying pan and stumbled backward.
"Qing Lin! Sha Chen! Hei Yan!"
The response was instantaneous.
Before her echo even faded, the air pressure in the savanna plumted.
SWISH!
The tall grass was violently ripped apart.
Hei Yan was the first to arrive. The Black Panther Alpha didn’t even bother with his human form, he was fully shifted into his massive, terrifying beast state, his purple eyes glowing with rage as he let out a roar that shook the trees.
Right beside him, Sha Chen materialized out of the shadows.
The Arctic Wolf’s hair blew in the wind, and his sharp, spear was already leveled directly at the golden man on the ground.
And from the trees above, Qing Lin dropped down.
The Azure Snake King landed right in front of Xin Yi, shielding her completely behind his broad back.
His fangs were fully descended, dripping with deadly venom.
"Who dares?!" Qing Lin hissed.
"I will tear his throat out," Hei Yan growled, his massive claws sinking deep into the dry earth.
Sha Chen just smirked, twirling his spear. "I claim the pelt."
On the ground, the golden man groaned again.
Slowly, clumsily, he pushed himself up onto his hands and knees.
There was a perfectly round, bright red indentation of a frying pan right in the middle of his incredibly handso face.
He blinked his golden eyes, shaking his head to clear the ringing in his ears.
He looked up. He saw the massive black panther ready to pounce. He saw the deadly snake hissing at him. He saw the arctic wolf pointing a spear at his heart.
He didn’t look remotely scared. In fact, he looked completely unbothered.
Jin Xuan sat back on his heels, completely naked and entirely shaless, and scratched his chest.
"Wow," Jin Xuan muttered, his deep voice rumbling. "That flat black rock really hurts."
"State your na and your tribe before I separate your head from your shoulders," Sha Chen commanded, stepping forward.
Jin Xuan yawned. "I am Jin Xuan. Son of the Chief of the Golden Mane Tribe. Who are you people? And why are you so loud? I was trying to sleep."
His golden eyes completely bypassed the three deadly Alphas and locked onto Xin Yi, who was currently peeking out from behind Qing Lin’s arm.
Jin Xuan’s eyes widened slightly.
His nose twitched, taking in the sweet scent of lavender that was making his inner beast go crazy.
He tilted his head, looking at her with genuine, innocent curiosity.
"You," Jin Xuan pointed a massive, dirt-stained finger at her.
"What is that strange colored skin you are wearing? Did you hunt a magical beast to cover your chest?"
Xin Yi blinked, completely bewildered. "Colored skin? It is a linen tunic!"
"Linen?" Jin Xuan repeated, testing the strange word.
He suddenly grinned, a brilliant, wild smile that made him look like a giant, overgrown puppy instead of a terrifying apex predator.
He completely ignored the spear pointed at his chest and the venom dripping inches from his face.
He leaned forward, staring directly into Xin Yi’s eyes.
"You are very strange. And you sll very good," Jin Xuan declared proudly. "You hit with a rock, but I forgive you. I like you, tiny female. I have decided to keep you as my mate."
Xin Yi stared at him.
The three incredibly possessive, incredibly dangerous Alphas surrounding her froze, their murderous auras suddenly multiplying by ten.
