Everyone ant well. In a normal, loving family, if a father saw that featuring his daughter wasn’t working, he’d simply take her off-cara and that would be that.
But this was Wang Henli’s ho.

Wang Henli snatched up Wang Tuantuan, who was beside him. "Why are you so useless?"

Just then, the woman rushed forward. "Wang Henli, what are you doing? Put Tuantuan down! She’s just a child, you—"
Wang Henli rarely hit Wang Tuantuan, as she had to appear on cara. This woman, however, was another story.
His boundless rage was already simring with nowhere to go, and she had just thrown herself in his path. Wang Henli tossed Wang Tuantuan aside and slapped the woman as she lunged at him.
The sound of a SLAP echoed through the spacious ho, followed only by the woman’s sobs. Reflected in Wang Tuantuan’s wide eyes was the image of Wang Henli straddling her mother—
Endless fear flooded her heart, but Tuantuan was still brave. She rushed forward, grabbed Wang Henli’s hand, and bit down hard.
"AARGH!"
A powerful force struck her before she could dodge, and her head hit the leg of the European-style sofa. She cried out. Wang Henli glanced over, strode toward her, and roughly held her head to inspect her temple.
"Dammit."
Now that the rchandise for display was flawed, Wang Henli finally lost the will to hit anyone. Just then, a call ca in from Qian Song. He furrowed his brow, turned, and went to his room to take it.
Wang Tuantuan was still lying on the carpet, panting heavily.
Her mother ca over and hugged her. "Tuantuan, are you okay?"
"..."
An endless silence.
The little girl once again asked the question she had asked so many tis before. "Mommy, why did we have to co find Daddy?"
The woman was sobbing, the smile on her face a hideous sight. She still didn’t answer, only saying, "It’ll get better later on."
The small girl clutched the doll in her arms and rembered sothing she’d once heard.

"Why doesn’t Daddy just die?"
Hearing this, her mother instinctively glanced at the man’s door, then quickly covered Tuantuan’s mouth, shaking her head in terror. "You can’t say things like that."
Inside the room, Wang Henli was also facing judgnt.
His numbers for this competition were terrible. The year-over-year drop was staggering.
Qian Song was extrely dissatisfied with this.
"What is this garbage you’re putting out?"
"Look at all the resources I’ve poured into you over the years."
"If you keep this up," Qian Song said coldly, "I’ll make sure you learn that the pain of being at the bottom is as intense as the pleasure of being at the top."

Swallowing his anger at the man’s tone, Wang Henli forced an obsequious smile. "I’ll fight my way to the top in this competition."
"Fine. The company will continue to promote you."
A smile appeared on his face.
"But if you don’t get first place this year, you’re giving your cookbook."
"But, Mr. Qian, those are my family’s heirloom recipes..."
