That question was a little difficult for Jiang Qiuqiu to answer.
So she dodged the question. "I wasn’t really paying attention to anyone."
"Nonsense!" Mo Chengyu chuckled. "You took pictures together, you perford together... you must have seen each other backstage plenty of tis. There’s no way you didn’t notice *anyone* at all!"
"Don’t be shy, Qiuqiu! Co on, tell . If you’re too embarrassed to say you *like* soone, just tell who you thought was the easiest on the eyes!"
Perhaps it was because the people on stage that day really were exceptionally good-looking, or perhaps Mo Chengyu’s mory was just that good, because she actually started listing a few of the strears’ nas, letting Jiang Qiuqiu choose the one who was ’easiest on the eyes’ from the list.
Jiang Qiuqiu: ...
Just as Mo Chengyu was pestering Jiang Qiuqiu, a male voice, as cold as ice, shot through the air and cut between them.
Mo Si took off his hat, closed the door, and strode into the middle of the living room. He glanced at Jiang Qiuqiu before quickly fixing his gaze on Mo Chengyu. "What’s ’easiest on the eyes’? Who’s ’easiest on the eyes’? What are you two talking about?"
Mo Chengyu: ???
...
’Holy crap.’ She glanced back, frantically signaling to Zuo Kai with her eyes.
’Didn’t I tell you to let know if anything happened?! How could you not say a word when he showed up!’
Zuo Kai could only protest inwardly, ’The Admiral was through the door in an instant! I didn’t notice either!’
’I’m dead, I’m so dead.’
Mo Chengyu’s cheerful voice vanished instantly. She seamlessly switched to her well-behaved, serious mode. "Oh, nothing! Just discussing Qiuqiu’s work with her."
"Black Hole, why are you back so soon?"
He let out a dry laugh. ’If I hadn’t co back, I wouldn’t have heard her spouting such nonsense. It’s bad enough she’s so flighty herself, but she has to drag others down with her.’
"I would have been back earlier, but I stopped by Mrs. Ai’er’s on the way. She heard you’ve been a bit unstable lately and wants you to go over and pick up a case of Spirit Nourishing Liquid."
"???"
Mo Chengyu’s expression changed instantly, her face a mask of pure accusation.
"What’s wrong? You don’t want it?" Mo Si shot her a look. "Putting off your dicine will only an you have to drink more later."
Mo Chengyu said nothing. Mo Si told her to hurry over and not keep an elder waiting.
’Fine.’ She slowly, reluctantly, got to her feet. After saying goodbye to Jiang Qiuqiu, she glanced back one last ti as she left with Zuo Kai.
In the living room, Mo Si had already taken a seat right next to Jiang Qiuqiu.
’That scheming panda!’
’Putting a pretty girl before his own sister!’
’An old panda eating tender grass! They’re not a match at all!’
She gave the door a vicious little push to close it. ’Even though my brother doesn’t deserve Qiuqiu,’ she thought, ’I still hope she ends up with him.’
’Even though she’s younger than , it would be pretty cute to call her ’sis-in-law.’’
Lost in thought, she began to hum a little tune.
Another year had passed. As he neared forty, her brother finally had a crush on soone.
’If Mom knew, she’d be really happy, too.’
-
Mo Chengyu was gone.
Jiang Qiuqiu and Mo Si were left alone together.
This wasn’t the first ti they had been alone. A little over a month ago, during the ti Mo Chengyu was working at the research institute, they were alone together almost every day.
That should have seed perfectly ordinary, but at this mont, they could no longer maintain their previous composure.
In the past, they had been naturally calm and composed around each other, their hearts untroubled by other thoughts. But in the past two months, the past two days—
so adorable, boundary-crossing things had happened. The tides of their hearts had been stirred; how could they possibly remain calm?
All they could do was drift on the stirring waves and, by instinct, reach for each other.
"Qiuqiu." In the end, it was Mo Si who spoke first.
