Hero of Darkness Chapter 1239: The Rude Guy

Morpheus suddenly revealed to the girl held captive till now that he was an S-Rank Hunter. He was always the kind of person who kept his mouth shut and spoke too little even among his forr gang mbers... now outright revealed his secrets to the girl.

"What is your na?" asked Morpheus as he held her hand and helped her get up from the chair.

"Han Hae-rin. You?" said the girl.

She had blonde hair and blue eyes, but her physical features gave the hint of a mixed-race person. One of her parents was definitely a foreigner, and the one a native to this country.

"Well, I don’t particularly have a surna. All I rember from my childhood is my na before we got attacked by the Dokkari." responded Morpheus.

Dokkari was the given na in this country for the monster alien invaders who appeared out of the rifts.

"I’m Morpheus, by the way." responded the savior and helped her get out.

After leaving the docks, Hae-rin made a call from his phone and let her father know about her present situation and how she was saved by soone.

Half an hour later, her father, along with many people, emanating powerful auras, ca in droves by car, and the quiet shipyard docks turned lively.

The father walked out of his car, and Hae-rin instantly ran towards her father, hugged him tightly, and started crying.

The father and daughter had their get-together while Morpheus leaned against a small boat on the docks.

Yawn!

He yawned and looked towards the quiet seashore.

"Hey, you. Co here!" spoke the father.

In front of Morpheus stood a tall and strong man, his physique revealing his sturdy and muscular stature despite his gray hair on the sides of his head.

The beard also added to his aura of dominance as the man seed to be the strongest among all the new arrivals.

"Who the fuck do you think you are to order around? I just saved your daughter’s life.

Show so politeness and courtesy." replied Morpheus curtly while folding his arms.

One of the security guards, who seed to be an A-rank hunter himself, replied with an irritated voice...

"You! How dare you speak to our chairman like that?!

Do you have a death wish?!" raged the bodyguard.

Morpheus released his dreadful aura as his killing intent shot through the roof.

"What if I do? You wanna give it a try, asshole?" he asked with a grim voice.

Soon, everyone else was shocked after sensing his aura as Morpheus turned hostile.

"An... An S-rank hunter?!" exclaid one of the bodyguards.

The atmosphere suddenly turned heavy as a few of the people almost lost their footing from his pressure.

However, in the very next mont...

BOOMM!!!

Another blue aura erupted and threw off the pressure emitted by Morpheus.

This aura was not only denser but also much potent, revealing itself to have co from a veteran.

The person who released this domineering pressure, revealing himself to be an SS-Rank hunter...

Was the chairman himself.

"Pardon my subordinate’s behavior, and my own." spoke the chairman.

"I should have minded my tone. Well... let correct my ways." he said, in a polite tone.

"Thank you... for saving my daughter. Please allow to offer you a fitting reward," he spoke while maintaining his dignified presence.

Morpheus, in return, didn’t seem much fazed. He took out a cigar and a lighter from his pockets.

He lit the cigar and started smoking without any worries, as if he didn’t care for the apology.

"I ca for those fuckers. She just happened to be with them. That’s all.

There’s no need for any rewards. I’m fairly rich myself, so I’m not interested in any petty cash anyway." he replied nonchalantly.

"If you guys want to repay my help... just clean the warehouse and remove any traces linking to the scene if you find them.

And no need to ntion in front of the police, too, if you choose to make this shindig public.

Since we’re done... I’ll be on my way." said Morpheus and walked towards their group while casually smoking his cigar.

It was right then...

"Wait!... What’s your na?" asked the chairman.

"Appa, he is called Morpheus." spoke Han Hae-rin.

"Morpheus?... How co I’ve never heard that na, especially since he’s an S-rank hunter?" spoke the chairman.

"It’s not like every hunter in this country wants people to know about their existence.

So of us prefer to stay hidden." replied Morpheus as he walked past their group.

He did not seem to bother with the reward, nor did he want to get entangled in their affairs.

"Wait a minute, young man. An S-rank Hunter like you could do a lot of good for the people of the country.

You can be a hero and bring hope to a lot of people who need it in this world." spoke the chairman.

"Not interested. Besides, I learned a very important thing when I was but a child." spoke Morpheus as he stopped in his steps and turned his head around while standing firm.

"There are no real heroes in this world."

2 Days Later...

Inside a tall business corporation building, a eting was being held, and a report had just co in.

A slender man with spectacles handed out the report to an old man sitting in a chair.

"We’ve found him, sir. Our hunters saw him sitting in a sushi restaurant and are currently keeping an eye on him.

Also, this report has his background." spoke the employee.

And after reading the report, the old man was astonished and exclaid in disbelief...

"He was an F-Rank Hunter?!" he asked with a shocked voice.

"Yes. We suspect that went through that rare occurrence even among the hunters..." responded the employee.

Yet, instead of him... it was the man sitting across the desk who finished his words.

"The Double Awakening!"

An hour passed, and Morpheus finally finished his al.

Just as soon as he got up from the seat and approached the exit, he saw a group of n in suits entering the restaurant, almost blocking the exit.

Leading that group... was a familiar face.

The man leading this group was none other than the father of the girl he rescued.

"We et again, young man." spoke a man with a stoic and rugged voice.

"Ah, not you again. I told you... Neither do I want any reward, nor do I intend to play hero.

Besides... why the hell are you after ?" asked Morpheus with an exasperated tone.

"Ah, looks like we had a bit of a misunderstanding.

Let introduce myself properly..." spoke the man as he extended his hand to shake.

"My na is Han Du-sik. I am..." spoke the man as he paused before revealing his important position in this country.

"The chairman of the National Hunter Association."

The girl he saved a couple of days ago turned out to be the daughter of the Hunter Association chairman. And now, the man himself was standing in front of Morpheus.

Soon, the guards covered the entrances and even the outside of the restaurant.

Through the main glass window, one could see Morpheus and Han Du-sik sitting on chairs and having a conversation.

"So... Double Awakening?" he asked Morpheus.

"Looks like you’ve looked into before coming here.

It was over a year ago. The people who kidnapped your daughter ambushed my team and killed everyone after we exited the dungeon.

There was a traitor in our own team, but he too got killed once there was no use for him.

I had the double awakening right after experiencing death at their hands and as the sole survivor... I swore vengeance." responded Morpheus, his tone unapologetic.

"Hmm... there is no record of such an incident in our archives, though." said the chairman as he looked at Morpheus skeptically.

"Not everyone enters those dungeons and towers legally, Mr. Chairman.

Let’s not pretend that everyone in the Hunter’s Association is a loyal and honest person.

For an agency that is controlled less by the governnt and more by the Hunter Guilds, the Corporations, and whatever Oligarchs this country is currently ruled by... You put up a lot of emphasis on appearing righteous." explained Morpheus as he yawned again.

"So you’re admitting to entering a dungeon illegally right in front of ?

What’s next... You will admit killing those rcenaries, too?" asked the chairman.

"Why not? I would take imnse pleasure in admitting that I finally avenged all those people who died protecting that day.

It’s your own people that you should be preaching morals and ethics to, not ." responded Morpheus curtly.

"If you’re done with your irrelevant foreplay... I intend to leave.

And from now on... don’t send your people to watch over .

Because I will hurt every single one of them so badly that they will never be able to function normally as a human ever again." spoke Morpheus, his eyes revealing a killing intent as if a venomous snake was about to land the decisive strike on prey.

Ever since they t... Morpheus had been nothing but a rude, arrogant, and immoral ruffian who seed to care only about himself.

Just as he turned his back towards the chairman... the man asked with a stern voice.

"Then why didn’t you kill any of them since you were already aware of their presence?"

To his query... Morpheus responded with a cold yet precise reasoning.

"Because I only kill people who deserve it."
