He placed a virtual card face-down. After that entire sequence, aside from the Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon destined to appear in two turns thanks to Future Fusion, Kaiba had done nothing more than summon a single 0-ATK Maiden with Eyes of Blue in Attack Position before ending.

It was her first ti using this AR-style Duel Disk. A flustered Hoshino Alter fumbled, poking at the five starting cards displayed in front of her as virtual projections.

"How do I even draw here? I thought the system automatically pulled cards for ?"
Mokuba quietly explained, "Just place your fingertip above the deck. The Duel Disk will detect it and project the drawn card into your AR view."
"Oh, I see. It really feels like playing a video ga. I wonder if turning Duel Links into a mobile ga would be a hit..."
Her finger hovered over the virtual deck. As if responding to her touch, the Duel Disk glowed blue, projecting her drawn card into her left-eye AR display.
"My turn—draw! I Normal Summon Heroic Spirits – Mash Kyrielight in Attack Position!"
She placed the card into the monster zone. Since Kaiba had summoned a 0-ATK monster in Attack Position, Hoshino Alter unusually chose to summon Mash in Attack as well.

She swung her AR Duel Disk into the battle phase. Even knowing Kaiba surely had sothing waiting, she couldn’t hold back now. If she didn’t press the attack before Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon appeared, the situation would only worsen.
"Sorry, Kisara. Even though there’s no rcy on a Duel Monsters battlefield, I’ll try to go a little easy. Mash—Attack!"
Leaping high with her shield raised, Mash swung it down toward the defenseless Maiden with Eyes of Blue.
"There’s no need to apologize, Hoshino. Since we’ve stepped onto this stage, let’s give it our all!"
Looking up at Mash’s descending shield, Kisara calmly raised her arm. In that instant, the White Dragon’s hidden power within her body erupted forth.

The attack was nullified, and Hoshino Alter flinched as the Blue-Eyes suddenly appeared.
Even though they were normally just numbers on a calculator, the AR Duel Disk’s rendering of Blue-Eyes was so awe-inspiring it even outshone the real dragons of Ancient Egypt. Kaiba had clearly poured enormous effort into "beautifying" his beloved monster’s model.

Hoshino muttered, "This guy... still as much of a tsundere as ever. But both of my consecutive attacks were blocked. Was that part of your calculations too, Other ?"

Hoshino Alter grinned, rubbing her nose proudly. "I warned you—I don’t fight without a plan! This Alter power, sealed away for two years, is stronger than ever now that it’s awakened!"
The dark-tinged Mash Alter ran her slender fingers along her exposed pale stomach, armor unable to conceal it. Her corrupted lips curved into a twisted smile.
"Senpai... I’m so lonely. Two years without you coming to find ... I’ve been burning up inside, holding back so much desire~"
Hoshino’s eyes widened in realization. "So you made my yandere kouhai stronger by... neglecting her on purpose?! And she’s still just as shaless after going dark!"
"Now—take this, Kaiba! The counterstrike born of darkness, to devour your light!"
