Monica was the most excited one of all. She grabbed Xia Qingqian’s hand, led her through the crowd, stopped in front of Nancy, and said with a smile, "Mr. Nan, doesn’t this just fit the temperant of HDC520?" Monica couldn’t help marveling that only when she was putting makeup on Xia Qingqian and doing all the other styling work did she feel most in her elent, most at ease.
The mont Nancy saw Monica holding Xia Qingqian’s arm and walking toward him, he felt as if he were standing in a wedding hall, watching the bride, unhurried and composed, walk across the red carpet toward him. She was dignified, elegant, gentle and virtuous, her face haloed with a faint glow that added an extra touch of radiance to her beauty.
When he ca back to his senses, he suddenly chuckled, shook his head and let out a light sigh. How could he have such a feeling? He’d only t her three tis, so how could the feeling be this strong?
He recalled that ti at the airport, when she’d asked him if they had t sowhere before. Back then she seed to be expecting sothing, but when he told her the truth, he saw the drop in her mood and the disappointnt in her eyes.
Had they really t?
If they hadn’t, then why did he feel a familiar scent spreading through the air?
"Mr. Nan? Did your soul just leave your body? Saw a beauty and forgot where you were?" Monica mocked Nancy bluntly, then stepped forward and poked him with her finger.
Nancy suddenly felt he’d lost his composure. Being called out by Monica made a faint awkwardness creep across his face. He cleared his throat and said, "Miss Monica is an internationally renowned makeup artist. If even you’re satisfied, how could anyone else not be?"
"Mr. Nan really knows how to talk. So you’re saying it’s a one-hundred-percent match? Looks like Young Master Yao was right to put you in charge of this series’ planning. I’ll have to go to the venue and help heat things up a bit." Monica flipped her hair and laughed with an easy flourish.
Nancy glanced down at the ti on his wrist, then lifted his eyes to look at Xia Qingqian. "Miss Xia, it’s about ti. I’ll take you to the venue."
Xia Qingqian gave a slight nod. On Nancy, she saw the shadow of Qiao Zhenyu. Her mood, however, was low. She could actually et Qiao Zhenyu’s biological older brother face to face, and yet Qiao Zhenyu’s heart had coincidentally been transplanted into Nancy’s body.
She pondered for a very, very long ti before she finally said softly, "Mr. Nan, may I presumptuously ask you a question?" Her palms were already damp with sweat; she herself didn’t know whether she should ask it or not.
But there was a force inside her pushing her to do it. She waited nervously for Nancy’s answer. After all, what she was about to ask was soone else’s scar—how was she supposed to bring it up?
"What does Miss Xia want to know? Just go ahead and ask. If it’s sothing I know, I’ll tell you." Through the rearview mirror, Nancy took a look at Xia Qingqian and said with a smile.
Xia Qingqian still mulled it over for quite a while before she dared to voice it. "Mr. Nan, did you... did you have a heart transplant?" The mont the question left her lips, her own heartbeat beca violently intense. She didn’t know if Qiao Zhenyu could hear her voice too.
Nancy hadn’t expected that kind of question from her. He’d thought she would ask sothing about the Young Master. How did she know he’d had a heart transplant? Apart from the Young Master and the Old Master, no one knew about this. Even Ye Feng was in the dark; everyone thought Nancy was leaving Beitang Group to go abroad.
So how did she know about his situation? With great interest, he fixed his gaze on the woman reflected in the rearview mirror. Her face was full of anticipation; he felt as if he could even hear her breathing and her rapid heartbeat.
