Xia Qingqian extended her trembling little hand, slowly moving it onto Beitang Yao’s chest, her dull and bewildered gaze resting there for a long ti before she finally raised her eyes to look at Beitang Yao, hoarsely asking, "Young Master, may I listen to your heart?"
Her nose tingled with acidity, her eyes slightly red, as wisps of light mist swirled in her eyes. With just a blink, the mist would turn into a spring and flow gently.
He stared at her with a grave face, and such cheesy words made him break out in goosebumps all over.
However, in the end, he couldn’t bear it, gently nodding and leaning forward slightly of his own accord.
Carefully, he embraced her, avoiding touching her wounds.
She haphazardly wiped her tears with the back of her hand, then gently rested her tear-streaked face on his chest.
Slowly closing her eyes, she quietly listened to the heartbeats that belonged to Beitang Yao, yet her tears couldn’t help but fall again, soaking his clothes and piercing his heart.
He could distinctly feel a faint ache in his heart, and the accelerating rhythm of his heartbeat...
She disregarded everything, and as a surge of sorrow welled up in her chest, she reached out and tightly embraced Beitang Yao with such force that it startled him, his eyes widening suddenly. It took him a good while to co back to his senses, allowing her to hold him as she wished.
If I had known you would face such a great ordeal, four years ago, I would have held you tightly and never let you go, definitely not. She secretly cursed in her heart, yet she let herself uninhibitedly cling to Beitang Yao; even if he sought revenge later, she didn’t care.
For the first ti, Beitang Yao extended his hand to stroke her back, which was heaving dramatically, mimicking the servants’ soothing gestures. A rare, gentle light spilled in his eyes, like a once-in-a-thousand-years radiance.
"This is the last ti I’ll allow you to cry. Next ti, don’t let see you weeping." In this mont, he had already resud his cold deanor, his voice turning icy.
She seed to want to rge her very being into his marrow and bones, the forcefulness making him involuntarily stiffen his body.
No woman had ever dared treat him this way. He was caught off guard, pushed onto the bed, yet she still clung to his chest, burying her face there, seemingly unwilling to rise even for a mont. Her arms wrapped around his back, and as he fell, his body arched instinctively, afraid of hurting her hands.
After a mont, he reached out to push her, but she remained unmoved, lying against his chest as if nothing could stir her.
"...Woman..." He cleared his throat as he softly whispered in her ear.
Xia Qingqian’s body jolted as if frightened, abruptly rising, releasing her arms from around Beitang Yao and propping herself up by his side, separating from his body.
Between them, Beitang Yao lay beneath Xia Qingqian, their gazes locking in the tranquil air. In that instant of collision, neither of their eyes could break away.
Her swollen, bewildered eyes faintly gazed down at Beitang Yao, who was trapped beneath her.
Yet, in Beitang Yao’s icy eyes, a hint of sothing different ignited, as if he wanted to burn everything before him. His deep, abyss-like gaze looked up at Xia Qingqian, her loose hair cascading down, the ends falling deliberately or inadvertently on his body, his cheek.
Through the fabric, he could feel that kind of tingling invitation, such a blatant invitation, and as a man, even he sotis found it hard to resist temptation.
