Now reading: Chapter 152 - 80: Lingxi Dilemma and Memories of the Past from Hidden Moth, a Sci-fi novel by Xu Gongzi Shengzhi.

He Kao really didn’t do it on purpose. He had long thought of the clue of the pendant, but just couldn’t rember the old man setting up the chess stall.

This wasn’t a side effect after cultivating the "Nihility View," but rather, He Kao’s mories from before he was five were already very vague. There are so things he didn’t want to rember anymore, and over ti they seed to beco a sort of seal.

Ordinary children usually start rembering things from the age of three, but He Kao’s relatively clear mories began only after he changed his na and started elentary school. By then, he was already called He Kao.

Hanging up the phone, He Kao started thinking about another matter—where could he find an inheritance of the Observing Body Skill? Seeking out Lin Qingshuang didn’t seem realistic, nor was it easy to open that topic again.

However, He Kao always felt he should have a way. This feeling was very strange. Where did it co from?

A feeling for techniques should be related to the Magic Sect and sorcerers. He Kao took out so paper and a pen, prepared to write down all the people he had encountered or heard about lately, as they were all recent matters.

He hadn’t written a single word when he slamd the pen down on the paper, startling himself, then took out the laptop he brought back from the E-Tis District yesterday and found a deeply hidden disguise file.

After clicking open, it played a recording of a conversation between a man and a young woman—

Young woman: "The case of the missing official seal was three days ago, and my colleague took that call. The case of the apple turning into an orange was just last night, and coincidentally, I took that call..."

Man: "Have you heard of the Hidden Moth?"

Young woman: "What is the Hidden Moth?"

Man: "The Hidden Moth is a person... The records about the Hidden Moth can be found in official histories..."

Young woman: "Isn’t that just a skillful assassin? It doesn’t prove anything!"

Man: "...That woodsman, soone investigated him, including the sorcerers of the Observing Body Sect at the ti—whom we should call our founders. Our Observing Body Sect also has a very long history, at least over eleven hundred years old..."

Young woman: "...Master, how did I do with the summary?"

Man: "Don’t call Master in public, call Brother-in-law..."

Young woman: "Brother-in-law, you had soone pull strings to get into the command center as an operator just to look for the Hidden Moth?"

Man: "The last clear lead on the Hidden Moth appeared in Qi Yuan City... That’s why I arranged for you to be an operator at the police reporting center... I didn’t expect you to find important clues in just a few months."

Young woman: "I found out that the report last night was made by soone nad Gao Xue’e..." (Note: See Chapter One and Two).

This was the conversation that He Kao inadvertently recorded in the café three months ago, as if it opened a magic box, leading to a series of bizarre events.

Now He Kao already knew that the man in the recording was the boss of Jinxing dia and a Xingshen Sect sorcerer nad Peng Xian.

Peng Xian approached Gao Xue’e with ulterior motives, later got involved with Zhao Hai Zhen, and was one of the kidnappers that night, who was later taken down by Huang Xiaopang, now presud missing to the outside world.

If it weren’t for Peng Xian, Gao Xue’e wouldn’t have been kidnapped that night. Others only targeted He Kao, but Peng Xian noticed Gao Xue’e because he knew about her report that night.

Peng Xian, clearly a Xingshen Sect sorcerer, took a disciple under the guise of an Observing Body Sect sorcerer. This disciple is a young woman whom he placed as an operator at Qi Yuan’s police report center.

Initially, there were only voice files. He Kao even misinterpreted the Observing Body Sect as the Official Promotion Sect, and later figured it out, thus leaving an impression, and today it seed like a stroke of insight connecting to this part.

It seems that the young woman was likely deceived by Peng Xian. She called Peng Xian Master and even Brother-in-law, but she might not even be his actual sister-in-law either.

He Kao now had a basic understanding of the major magic sects, though he didn’t know the specific techniques of the Spirit Awakening Skill but knew that a Tier One Sorcerer from the Xingshen Sect was called a "Disguiser," a Tier Two Sorcerer was called a "Fisherman," and a Tier Three Sorcerer referred to themselves as a "Perforr."

These nas weren’t chosen randomly because He Kao is now also a Tier One "Stalker" of the Hidden Mount E Sect and has a firsthand understanding of their anings.

So what Peng Xian did was likely related to the technique he practiced, as a Fisherman is essentially an advanced stage of a Disguiser. He must have disguised himself as an Observing Body Sect sorcerer to take that young woman as a disciple.

Considering that his aim was to sche against the Hidden Moth, this affair had to remain secret. So the most important question remains: was the Observing Body Skill he taught that young woman real or fake?

The probability of it being real is also not small! Because a successful disguise ans that besides the identity being fake, everything else should be as genuine as possible. It doesn’t require high-level techniques; entry-level content is enough, and having subsequent Tier One Techniques is even better.

This is exactly what He Kao needs now!

Peng Xian certainly isn’t coming back, but his "disappearance" will only be realized, confird, and gradually affect and fernt over ti. The Magic Sect surely hasn’t inford Jinxing dia or that young woman yet.

The young woman likely has the Observing Body Skill techniques, just that it depends on the approach to contact her and how to obtain it from her, with the first step being to confirm her identity.

As long as he can obtain the technique, verifying its authenticity isn’t a problem for He Kao. This is even one of the thods he can use: to approach her under the pretext of helping verify the authenticity by asking her about the technique’s content.

...

Gao Xue’e ca ho at 7:30 that day, didn’t have dinner at the company. She heard that He Kao was cooking at ho, so she rushed back during the after-work peak hours.

During dinner, she asked He Kao if he’d picked out a car he liked, and if he wanted to visit so dealerships in the coming days while he had ti.

Judging by her expression and tone, after a period of calming down and returning to her familiar working environnt, she had gradually erged from the shadow of that terrifying night.

He Kao hesitated and swallowed the words he originally wanted to say.

Unexpectedly, Gao Xue’e noticed and specially asked, "Xiao Kao, do you have sothing you want to say?" She put down her chopsticks and said nervously, "You’re not going to kick out, are you?"

He Kao smiled apologetically and said, "Of course not, where did you get that idea? I just have so questions for you, but I’m afraid of upsetting you again."

Gao Xue’e pretended to be relaxed and patted her chest, saying, "As long as you’re not sending away, ask whatever you want. I’m not that fragile. I’ve been through everything. As long as you’re here, I’m not afraid..."

On one side is President E, and on the other is Xiaopang, both are dear to him. He Kao thought for a while and still asked, "Do you rember the operator’s ID number from when you called the police a few months ago?"

Gao Xue’e was stunned, resting her chin on her hands, and thinking for a long ti before looking up sowhat disappointedly, "I can’t rember, I have no impression, I was just focused on being scared then... Why, is it important?"

He Kao: "I just want to find this person, it’s okay if you can’t recall, I’ll find another way."

Gao Xue’e: "Why are you looking for that operator? What’s her relation to this matter?"

He Kao had to change the excuse and explained, "What happened to you that day was likely leaked by her, that’s how those people knew."

Gao Xue’e’s face changed: "What! She was an accomplice with them? She didn’t even..."

He Kao: "Probably not, she might have been misled and inadvertently leaked it."

Among the kidnappers, there was only one woman, very burly, whom He Kao shot and killed. He listened to her voice and it was not that of the recorded operator.

But Gao Xue’e had a different reaction, very agitatedly saying, "How can this be, I want to file a complaint against her!"

He Kao quickly stopped her, "What reason do you have for the complaint? We can’t do it here..."

Gao Xue’e cald down a bit, analyzing, "You want to find this person, right? Complaining is one way. All calls are recorded; as long as I file a complaint, I can know her ID number, then there’ll be a way to find her.

I certainly won’t ntion what happened that night, I’ll just find another excuse, just need to file the complaint. Even if not a complaint, I can praise or thank her, in any case, I’ll be able to ask who answered the call..."

As she spoke, she started getting excited again.

He Kao tried his best to reassure her: "Don’t do that, we can’t do that. Don’t let anyone suspect any relation to what happened that night, especially not suspect you.

Actually, you don’t need to do anything, she might co to find you on her own, asking if you’ve seen Peng Xian lately? That’s President Peng of Jinxing dia, when the ti cos, just tell .

You can also quietly inquire about the situation on the Jinxing dia side, their boss is missing, has a woman co looking for her, is she the operator from the ergency center..."

Gao Xue’e was smart, imdiately realizing sothing: "President Peng is missing! Could he be..."

He Kao had to nod and say, "Yes, he was there that night too... that operator leaked the police call information to him."

Gao Xue’e: "You don’t know who she is, how can you know this so clearly?"

So things, once you start talking, just lead to more and more to say, more explanations needing more explaining... Hastily finishing dinner, He Kao eventually let Gao Xue’e listen to that recording and explained its origin.

The recording was long, and after listening it was already 10:30. Gao Xue’e wasn’t He Kao; she couldn’t notice anything related to the Observing Body Sect, but sat there and with a choking voice said, "I must file a complaint against her!"

He Kao stood right beside her and softly said, "You should not... this recording, we can’t leak it out." As soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted it, knowing full well Gao Xue’e wouldn’t actually do it, she just said it as a form of venting.

Gao Xue’e suddenly turned around and hugged He Kao tightly, burying her face in his chest and belly.

He Kao wrapped one arm around her head, and gently patted her back with the other, feeling her shoulders tremble incessantly.

This is what happened! Clearly, he had specifically instructed Gao Xue’e not to bring up or inquire about the events of that night anymore, to pretend nothing had happened, as if the vacation was just a trip.

Today, he didn’t plan to ntion it, just asked about the operator’s ID number, but that was enough to connect so many things, causing Gao Xue’e, who had managed to restore a bit of tranquility, to be struck again by mories.
