Now reading: Chapter 229 - 125: Inescapable Troubles at Hand from Hidden Moth, a Sci-fi novel by Xu Gongzi Shengzhi.

He Kao finally received the materials sent by Elder Jiang, which detailed the situation of the Huiming Shi Family. After reading it, he took a deep breath, realizing what a colossal entity he had provoked.

It’s not that he sought trouble, rather the other side started it.

But looking at it from another angle, if it weren’t for Wei Luo asking for directions on the street and giving him a crucial hint, he wouldn’t have reached Chen Yuhua’s house before Yang Lingxi, and the subsequent events wouldn’t have occurred.

At that ti, the Shi Family had already killed Yan Congfei to silence him and sent people to stage the scene, just waiting for Yang Lingxi to return ho to report the case. Had it been a step later, He Kao wouldn’t have been able to uncover anything.

The Shi Family realized they might attract attention from the Ancestral Hall and were ready to stop, but it was Hidden Moth who unexpectedly appeared and disrupted their plans, leading to the next step of "turning the tables."

Since Hidden Moth ca instead of the Ancestral Hall, and their original purpose was to find out Hidden Moth’s identity, they decided against stopping... As a result, a letter wasn’t sent out but a Three Pots was delivered instead.

The materials sent by Old Man Jiang were very detailed and rich in content, introducing the history and mbers of the Huiming Shi Family, and even providing a profile for each sorcerer of the Shi Family, including mbers not yet at Entry Level.

Besides, it detailed the Shi Family’s secular industries, how they controlled them, who operated them, providing every piece of information that could be investigated.

At this mont, He Kao learned that even the garden-style luxury hotel where Little Pingtou’s group stayed was part of the Huiming Shi Family’s properties.

There are close ties with the Huiming Shi Family, like indirect marriages, transactions over the past decade, business cooperations involving sorcerers, numbering over a hundred.

Not that all these people have problems; so might rely commission the Shi Family to process magical artifacts or purchase spiritual materials. However, so are surely influenced or indirectly controlled by the Shi Family’s external forces.

To his surprise, He Kao saw Wan Zhongle’s na in the materials. Years ago, Wan Zhongle represented the Alchemy Sect to purchase so ancient art-related materials from the Shi Family.

He Kao imdiately recalled Zhang Yanfei’s experience; those materials might’ve been provided to Zhang Yanfei, having him forge progenitor artworks and replace the originals.

It’s unclear what went wrong, but the original "Tan Xian’s Walking Stick Painting" ended up in He Kao’s hands, yet Zhang Yanfei is dead, leaving no one to clarify the inside story.

This material was supposed to clarify things for He Kao, but instead, the more he read, the more perplexed he beca—could it be that the Ancestral Hall or Old Man Jiang had already set their sights on the Shi Family?

Otherwise, right after the conversation, such detailed materials were sent over, clearly indicating soone was secretly investigating and organizing this a long ti ago. But there were omissions in these materials, or crucial information was incomplete, two points at least unaddressed.

Firstly, He Kao did not see Yan Congfei’s na.

Yan Congfei was a Tier Three Sorcerer of the Observing Body Sect, having no apparent relationship with the Huiming Shi Family, but it was proven he took orders or was controlled by the Shi Family’s forces.

Either Yan Congfei willingly conspired or so leverage fell into the Shi Family’s hands... How many others are in similar situations?

Secondly, He Kao hadn’t found an introduction to "Kucha Zi" nor any records about "Cat-Hates-Dog-Reviles".

"Cat-Hates-Dog-Reviles" was the Shi Family’s scene-cleaning "janitors", and He Kao got hold of its work phone and cracked its password, finding their "work group".

This showed a team specialized in dirty work, with leader Kucha Zi, along with thirteen cleaners including Cat-Hates-Dog-Reviles.

Yet none of this was recorded in the materials.

He Kao scrutinized it for a long ti and confird it’s a normal archive record, the abnormal part was its excessive detail. It didn’t record the Shi Family’s criminal activities nor proved any substantial issues.

After reading, He Kao realized the guy he shot and killed was the Shi Family’s son-in-law Hu Shulue... Well, later, he even got hold of his ID card and "handed it over" to the police.

Presently Elder Kang Rulin, Ancestral Hall Elder, was actually also a son-in-law of the Huiming Shi Family, and brother-in-law to Patriarch Shi Zhizhai. It’s said two Ancestral Hall Elders have gone to Nanhua City, including Elder Kang.

If it’s uncovered that the mastermind behind Yan Congfei’s death is the Huiming Shi Family, can Elder Kang still investigate, or can the Ancestral Hall make a move?

The Ancestral Hall holds no clear evidence against the Shi Family, at least not in this material, but He Kao does have it! So Jiang Daozhen not only sent materials but also assigned He Kao a task.

He told He Kao to organize the evidence he already possesses into a detailed and clear docunt and submit it anonymously as Hidden Moth to the four Ancestral Hall Elders responsible for the investigation.

How to submit? Certainly not by entrusting Elder Jiang to pass it—that would just expose Elder Jiang and his relationship. Nor directly deliver it... Well, express mail or imdiate delivery works.

The Elders’ addresses aren’t secret, Hidden Moth could definitely have found them.

That day, He Kao didn’t leave the group, fully participating in the Sawa Country’s sightseeing program, and checking into another hotel according to the itinerary that night. Later, he worked overti, used his laptop, and organized evidence materials.

While working, he lanted, even going abroad for travel, he couldn’t escape the fate of overti; yesterday working to defeat villains, today working on writing materials.
