There are seven Elders in the Ancestral Hall, each representing one of the Seven Great Magic Sects, and their identities are also the Sect Leaders of these sects.
When a Sorcerer reaches Tier Six, they can be called an Elder, but each sect only has one Elder on duty at the Ancestral Hall, and this identity represents a certain responsibility.
The Ancestral Hall is equivalent to the "Magic Sect Supre Decision-Making and Execution Committee," with the seven Elders as the committee mbers. Their duties include supervising the Sorcerers of the world, managing sect institutions, coordinating the developnt and distribution of cultivation resources...
However, their most important tasks can be summarized into two: Teaching and Law Enforcent.
Teaching is the core of the sect, encompassing all matters related to the inheritance of techniques. Law Enforcent represents a form of order, allowing decisions to be made on various behaviors of sect disciples, especially regarding punishnt.
This punishnt carries both arbitration and final judgnt nature.
If a disciple within a sect makes a mistake, their ntors will also impose punishnt and report the reason and decision to the Ancestral Hall.
But if the ntor does not punish or the punishnt is incorrect, the Ancestral Hall will arbitrate, sotis even punishing the ntor alongside the disciple.
The Ancestral Hall’s eting rules are not like the voting and decision-making processes of secular institutions. Emphasis is placed on individual decisive power, where any Elder can make decisions for the Ancestral Hall as long as no other Elders object.
Thus, at the level of the Ancestral Hall Elders, they represent not just a specific sect.
Any decision made for the sect can be countered by any Elder, provided they offer sufficient reasons.
One might ask, what if soone acts unreasonably? Maybe an Elder vetoes sothing without providing sufficient reasons; or they offer sufficient reasons, but others just don’t agree...
In reality, such situations rarely occur. Sorcerers differ from ordinary people, related to their cultivation level, and Elders have sworn an oath upon entering the Ancestral Hall.
So may not care about an oath, but these individuals, having dared to swear, will abide by it.
Yet, oaths cannot restrain everything, and the Ancestral Hall Elders will still have personal interests and may even have significant disagreents over certain matters. They are rely humans, after all.
Not to ntion humans, even Immortals have personal interests and disagreents... Thus, the Ancestral Hall’s decision-making principle is to seek common ground while allowing differences to the greatest extent.
Many low-tier Sorcerers greatly envy the Ancestral Hall Elders, fantasizing that one day they will beco one of them. However, many Tier Six Sorcerers might not wish to take on this role.
With cultivation reaching this point, one can be carefree in the mortal world, so why burden themselves with these responsibilities?
Yet, all high-tier Sorcerers have made vows, so after breaking through to Tier Six, if a previous Ancestral Hall Elder invites them to succeed, they cannot refuse. Simply put, this is also a form of obligation.
Having benefitted from the sect’s teaching and enjoyed various resources, there must be so form of repaynt, right? The best way to repay is to take on the responsibility of supervision and managent, ensuring orderly inheritance and good behavior among disciples.
The current seven Elders of the Ancestral Hall are——
Jiang Daozhen, Tier Seven Grand Calculator of the Lingxi Sect.
Zong Zheng, Tier Six Seat Master of the Qi Observation Sect, known as the Second Elder.
Kang Rulin, Tier Six Artifact Master of the Micro Realm Sect.
Gu Chun, Tier Six Earth Master of the Heart Plate Sect, known as Earth Master.
i Guyu, Tier Six Pharmacist of the Alchemy Sect, called ihua Immortal.
Li Xiuyuan, Tier Six Illusion Master of the Xingshen Sect.
Ye Qi, Tier Six Physician of the Observing Body Sect, self-titled Wild Phoenix.
Among them, Jiang Daozhen and Gu Chun have the most unique situations because currently, the Lingxi Sect and Heart Plate Sect have no other Tier Six Sorcerers available to succeed them. Even if they wish to "retire," there are no candidates at present.
If an Elder passes away but no other Tier Six Sorcerer from the sect is available to succeed, what should be done? Either bring back one of the previously "retired" Elders or appoint a temporary Sect Leader to fill the vacancy in the Ancestral Hall.
However, since the reorganization of the Magic Sects and the establishnt of the Ancestral Hall a millennium ago, such a situation has never occurred.
Kang Rulin told Wild Phoenix that he could resign from the position of Ancestral Hall Elder and have his junior brother Zhou Yeming succeed him. Zhou Yeming is also a Tier Six Artifact Master of the Micro Realm Sect but has never served as an Ancestral Hall Elder.
But this proposal was imdiately vetoed by Wild Phoenix, whose point was that regardless of what Kang Rulin wanted to do, he should first clarify the matter at hand.
The Ancestral Hall does not have an avoidance system; on the contrary, whoever is responsible should be the one to take responsibility first.
Traveling from Huiming City to Nanhua City is not very far, taking about three hours on the highway. By dusk, Shi Zhizhai finally arrived at the Kanglin Hotel in Nanhua City and t Kang Rulin.
In large families, those of the sa generation can vary greatly in age. Shi Zhizhai, in his early sixties, looks like he’s in his forties or fifties, while Kang Rulin, over twenty years his senior, is nearing ninety.
Yet Kang Rulin’s appearance seems to resemble Shi Zhizhai’s age.
Still seated in that scenic waterside pavilion, Shi Zhizhai sat down and asked, "Brother-in-law, why did you urgently call here? The police took away so people from our Shi Family, and I’m gathering information."
Kang Rulin’s voice revealed no emotion, handing Shi Zhizhai a docunt, saying, "No need to gather information, it’s all here. Read it, then think about what to say."
Shi Zhizhai perused the docunt for a long ti without speaking. Sweat ford on his forehead, and his body instinctively hunched.
"Is there anything you want to ask ?" Surprisingly, Kang Rulin was the first to speak.
Shi Zhizhai finally looked up and said, "Hao Wu, Hao Sheng, and the others are still with the police. We need to retrieve them before we can understand the situation."
