He Kao was already ready to leave, but his uncle-in-law pulled him back and said, "Don’t just leave after a few words, there’s sothing I haven’t told you yet!"

He Kao had to stop and ask, "What is it?"

When his uncle-in-law started speaking, He Kao learned it was about Xiaoshan and Xiaopang. Mrs. Chen hadn’t co to demand the debt, but it had left the family feeling very embarrassed. If this got out, they might not be able to hold their heads up in the future.

In a place like the countryside, who knows how people would talk about it!

But Mrs. Chen wasn’t foolish. After so thinking at ho, she realized that if her son was willing to do such a thing for Xiaoshan, he must be interested in the girl, and quite interested!

So she was put in a passive position, and in front of Zhou Yan, she didn’t say anything harsh. She rely said that the two kids were being immature and left Zhou Yan and her husband to handle it, making it hard for the family to lose their temper.

The next day, Aunt Liu, the special admin at the town’s tax office, found He Changshan to "casually" discuss a matter. She felt that Huang Si and He Shan had grown up together and that both families knew each other well, so why not pair up the children?

Aunt Liu was Mrs. Chen’s colleague, just over forty, and considered to be half a protégé of Mrs. Chen. It was obvious Mrs. Chen had sent her to test the waters.

He Changshan thought this was an idea worth considering. This way, not only wouldn’t they have to pay back the money, but they could also ask for a betrothal gift.

Xiaopang’s family had a good standing in town. His father was previously the director of the local detention center, and Mrs. Chen was a special admin at the tax office. Both were state officials with lucrative positions, and presumably had substantial assets.

Although Xiaopang’s father had passed away, his mother was still rehired at the tax office, and his job was reportedly doing well, without family burdens... at least in the matchmaker’s eyes, his conditions were perfectly suitable for He Shan.

Despite saying so, his uncle-in-law hadn’t given an answer, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, and simply said they would talk after the New Year.

Unexpectedly, He Kao said today that he had already repaid Xiaopang, so if things were to proceed, so conditions would need to be renegotiated.

His uncle-in-law spoke to He Kao about this issue separately as his aunt had already taken He Shan into the room.

His uncle-in-law asked He Kao what he thought. He Kao thought for a mont and said, "Don’t ask about this. My opinion doesn’t count; you should ask Xiaoshan and Xiaopang.

If they are willing, there’s no need to stop them. If they’re unwilling, there’s no need to force it."

He Changshan said, "I was just asking about their family’s situation."

He Kao replied, "Don’t you already know their family situation?"

He Changshan said, "I wanted to know about Huang Si himself. You work at the sa place, you must know better than I do. How much does he earn a year now?"

He Kao said, "About six hundred thousand, take-ho. He’s my superior at work and a key technical person..."

What He Kao said was the truth, but at the mont he felt a bit uninterested.

He Changshan seed surprised and wanted to ask more, but He Kao decisively took his leave. He filled up the car with energy and left Qi Yuan heading north.

At this ti, many highways were still quite congested, but the more remote provincial roads were clear. He Kao only had a general direction with no specific destination; it was a spur-of-the-mont journey.

It wouldn’t have been so bad if his uncle-in-law hadn’t brought up the matter, but now he wanted even more to escape for so peace since he knew how difficult the family could be, and who knows what drama they’d stir up during New Year.

No wonder Xiaopang’s reaction was so odd. Xiaopang wanted to avoid trouble without being too distant, so he volunteered to be on duty during the Spring Festival. This way, he wouldn’t miss the family reunion dinner and could stay inford about the "negotiations."

He Kao headed north, partly to "light up" new maps. If he hadn’t been to enough places, he couldn’t have prepared that al for the two Elders.

Recently, he had been exploring the areas around Qi Yuan, but they weren’t far, mostly within a 500-kiloter radius. This ti, he intended to go further and leave more footprints behind.

He’d been far enough south before, not only reaching Nanhua but also overseas, near the equator. The only shortcoming was that he traveled by plane, leaving no en-route footprints.

This long holiday offered ample ti, so he chose another direction, north, driving himself to explore more diverse sceneries. This also ant he could reach different climates and seasons in the future.

Experience, including knowledge and vision, is sothing many people haven’t truly appreciated the importance of.

Like the Tier Five Sorcerer of the Alchemy Sect, known as the Taster, also known as the dicine Gatherer. Only by tasting can one discern flavors, and a dicine Gatherer not only distinguishes Spirit dicine but also knows where to find the ones needed.

Even if for nothing else, if He Kao wanted a good al, he’d need to be able to gather different fresh produce anyti.

The rural New Year’s atmosphere seed more intense, with many villages only bustling during this ti. Even in broad daylight, there were quite a few people setting off firecrackers, reminding He Kao of his childhood.

Driving through the countryside, sudden crackling thunders from the fields startled him, or he’d see colorful fireworks blossoming in the sky not far away.

The sound of fireworks was quite similar to gunfire, but the people of the Eastern Country didn’t react by ducking for cover. Instead, they craned their necks to enjoy the spectacle.

The people indulging in this joy may not realize how precious this carefree happiness is... As the sun set, the fireworks leaping out from afar appeared even more brilliant.
