1008: Chapter 70: Reminder and Trial 1008: Chapter 70: Reminder and Trial Su Ya quietly drifted out from the tea room, carrying a large tea tray, and served aromatic tea to Su Shijun and Zheng Qing.

Then she stood to one side, holding the tea tray, her face filled with expectation as she looked towards her young mistress.

Su Shijun lifted the tea cup, took a small sip, and a surprised smile appeared on her face.

“Very good,” she praised, glancing at the little fox lady, “Almost as skilled as Su Man.”

Zheng Qing silently complained to himself, wondering if they would still be pleased if they knew how much tea leaves and dew this little girl wasted just to brew tea.

Su Ya grinned, her eyes squinting into slits, and her usually coiled tail at her waist involuntarily dangled out, peeking from under her skirt, trembling.

Su Shijun averted her gaze, pretending not to see the little fox lady’s loss of composure—she wasn’t Su Man, nor was she the strict nanny responsible for manners, and she was always very lenient with the managent of her little fox ladies.

“Go, find Su Man, tell her I’ve given you a half-day off as a reward for your perfect work today,” the witch found an excuse to easily dismiss the little girl.

Su Ya quickly gave a bow, then carried the tea tray and left the drawing-room cheerfully.

The room fell into silence once again.

After a while, as the tea level dropped by an inch, Su Shijun finally spoke up again, continuing from where Zheng Qing had left off earlier.

She looked at him seriously and said, “Those sprites were not in danger, they were fortunate…

very fortunate to have t you.

Without you, even if Mr.

Duzemu had prepared the dicine with Sand Hour royal jelly, they wouldn’t have lived this long.”

“It was also because of the sprites you raised that I confird my thoughts…

letting understand why I was able to successfully congeal the Witch Embryo at that ti.”

Su Shijun didn’t mind his vulgar joke, which slightly relieved Zheng Qing.

But her next words piqued his curiosity.

“What thoughts?

Do you also know Doctor Duzemu?” The young cost student tried to make his inquiry sound sowhat polite, but he couldn’t hide the urgency and curiosity in his tone.

Su Shijun didn’t directly answer his question but squinted her eyes, gazing at the gradually dimming sunlight outside the window, and continued her previous explanation: “…it let understand why the Council so desperately wanted a little wizard who had just enrolled in the first year; it also let understand what our great Principal had left behind for this school as a contingency.”

“The winter hunt before the holiday and today’s Chaos…

both very well proved this point.”

As she spoke, the corners of her mouth curled up, revealing a mocking smile:

“I originally thought eting you at that ti was arranged by Destiny…

but reality tells that Destiny is rely a lousy idea from an old man’s mind.”

The witch’s voice grew fainter, becoming barely audible.

“What is it?” Zheng Qing leaned forward slightly, his tone urgent as he pressed for an answer.

“Sothing capable of breaking the rules…” Su Shijun’s words were not yet finished when their secret conversation was suddenly interrupted by an unexpected noise.

“Boom!”

A deep red fla suddenly burst in the center of the drawing-room, positioned exactly between Su Shijun and Zheng Qing’s line of sight.

Through the burning deep red, Zheng Qing could vaguely make out a familiar, blurred face, and a very clear mouth.

However, due to the burning and distortion of the fla, Zheng Qing couldn’t glean any more information from that face.

“The dark tide is surging unusually, please Su Councilor, proceed to the Beta Town Managent Committee to support the defense operations imdiately,”

The voice of Fla Face was very chanical, as if it were a low-grade puppet.

Yet its tone was resolute, “Please adhere to your agreent.”

For a mont, Zheng Qing could see a flicker of surprise and annoyance on Su Shijun’s face, but quickly, these expressions were subrged in her calm reply.

“Understood,” the witch pursed her lips and blew a breath at the fla.

The fla, which had been burning fiercely, seed as if doused by cold water, and barely maintained for a few milliseconds before it disappeared into thin air with a final reluctant flicker.

Zheng Qing stared blankly at where the fla had disappeared, speechless for a long while.

When he regained his senses, he found Su Shijun tilting her head, staring at him unblinkingly.

Without saying a word, her expression beca very strange.

The warlock sat in a mahogany chair, twisting uncomfortably in his seat.

“What are you looking at?” he asked, unusually using the respectful ‘you’—since they had beco acquainted, he seldom used formal language—but recent anomalies and his intuition told him to be more cautious today.

Su Shijun’s next words proved the accuracy of his intuition.

“I wonder if I could kill you,” the witch said with a playful smile, but her words were chilling, “It’s just a thought that suddenly ca to …

but suddenly, it seems like a worthy attempt.”

Zheng Qing could tell from her expression and tone that she was not joking.

This left the young cost student in shock, his mind a ss.

Just minutes ago, they were having a pleasant chat, how did it turn to such a horrifying topic in the blink of an eye?

What had just happened?

“But, but, why?” he stamred, trying to stand up, only to realize in terror that he appeared to be bound to his spot by an invisible rope, unable to struggle free.

This discovery confird the witch’s words.

“Um, it’s not what you think,” noticing the fear in the warlock’s eyes, Su Shijun puffed her cheeks and furrowed her brow, changing her explanation, “To be precise, I want to try and kill a part of you…

um, like a therapist performing surgery, cutting off parts that don’t belong to you…

perhaps it could cure your chronic headache, or your special attraction to strange creatures.”

“Of course, it might also truly kill you.” She honestly explained all the possibilities to Zheng Qing, “If it really succeeds, you would regain your freedom.”

“I feel, I feel quite free now,” Zheng Qing chuckled dryly, all his muscles straining.

But the gap between an ordinary wizard and a Big Wizard was too vast; all his efforts were in vain.

“Bang!”

A second fla appeared before them, just like before.

Zheng Qing felt a tearful relief, while Su Shijun showed an unsurprised expression.

“Please…”

The second face of fla had just spoken a word when it was pinched out of existence by the witch.

“Understood…” Su Shijun lazily responded, while retracting her arm, blowing on her palm as if she were cleaning sothing dirty off her hands.
