Chapter 1682: Chapter 426: True and False Legends

“That is the legend of wizards and demons, isn’t it?”

Eris felt the enormous flash of magic power in the distance and showed a hint of nostalgia on her face: “It’s been so long since I touched that kind of power.”

As an ancient existence born alongside a world, Eris once possessed power equivalent to a legendary wizard in her world. However, as she was captured by wizards and thrown into the Black Prison, her power continued to wane due to environntal changes and the wear of the Black Prison. Now, she could only be considered an outstanding Big Wizard.

This was the thing she longed for the most; almost all eligible prisoners in the Black Prison had heard her ramble about it. Whenever faced with so difficult problem, Eris would reminisce about her forr glory and boast about the greatness of her power to the listeners.

After sighing, the spider silk hanging from her belly silently snapped.

Eris flipped over and lightly landed on the ground, her eight slender spider legs firmly stepping on the heads of a group of Death Knights, while their skeleton war horses below stomped and neighed uneasily.

Sujade directed the sluggish spirits to surge towards the edge of the battlefield while watching Behemoth, Shallow Jin Ryoko, The Duke, and other great demons entangled with wizards, without showing any dissatisfaction with the nonchalant combat of the Spider Queen.

It wasn’t until he heard her sigh that this great wizard demon, who had been in the Black Prison World for a long ti, slowly turned around and glanced at the giant spider: “A true legend will not be bound by this world… This is also why the prisoners wizards lock in the Black Prison only reach the rank of a Big Wizard.”

This was a direct challenge to Eris’s statent.

A hint of embarrassed anger appeared on the beautiful face on the jade-colored back shell: “A legend is a legend… there’s no real or fake!”

“No, there is a difference.”

The straightforward great wizard demon attempted to impart so common wizard knowledge to this indigenous god of the Otherworld, answering seriously: “A legend achieved by incarnating a world is like a reflection of the moon in a well. It looks as beautiful as the moon in the sky, but is surrounded by illusions, breaking with a single scoop.”

“A true legend, no matter in which world, possesses legendary power. Even if defeated by another legendary wizard, they will not be bound by any world… even ancient wizards can only suppress or expel, and it’s difficult to kill a legend.”

“That’s why I’m still alive.”

Muttering, Eris cast a vicious glance at the bare skull, finally realizing she couldn’t communicate normally with it, quickly changing the subject: “…Do you know the origin of that Sea Demon King?”

“That is a great existence.” Sujade comnted simply—perhaps straightforward, but never foolish enough to casually comnt on a legendary rank great demon.

Especially since, to so extent, that legendary great demon was even helping her escape prison.

Compared to Sujade, Eris, who prided herself as once being a legend, was much less sensitive in terms of ‘awe’, speaking boldly: “I just think… don’t you think the actions of that Sea Demon King are strange… Clearly, they can directly restrain two legends, helping to break the defensive magic array of the Black Prison Castle… yet casually provoked an angry lady and got dragged into a duel in a small dark room…”

Even as a skeleton, Sujade felt his mouth twitching violently.

This big spider was almost pointing at the Sea Demon King’s nose and saying they had lost their mind. For the first ti in his life, the great wizard demon lost his composure, clicking his jaw loudly, interrupting the big spider’s incessant complaints, and shouted loudly:

“This is wizards and demons!”

“Ha?” Eris looked puzzled.

The great wizard demon took a mont to collect himself—though he didn’t need to breathe—and then raised his hand, adjusting his jaw that had co loose from excitent. After a while, he slowly explained:

“Between wizards and demons, there is no provocation or enmity; there is only the struggle of the Dao.”

“Like those prisoners we see… A demon, trapped in the Black Prison. A world of utter darkness, hopelessness, its demise ever-approaching.”

“What was its fault? It simply followed its nature, trying to survive by hunting prey too powerful… then it was captured by wizards, cruelly tortured, and even in death found no release.”

“For those in robes, our existence is an error!”

“Similarly, to us, those wizards are also an error… Faced with an error, the only way is to correct it. The Sea Demon King’s actions are exactly the model for all our demons!”

The big spider was simply a bit slow.

Not truly foolish.

Seemingly understanding the purpose behind the great wizard demon’s impassioned speech, she blinked, nodded in agreent, softly murmured ‘Oh’ twice, then turned her head, looking at the battle under the distant city wall, dryly said: “The Duke is also quite strong…”

Sujade clicked his jaw without making a sound.

In the distance.

The Duke spread his cloak like a giant raven, circling above the prisoners and the demon army, a massive shadow covering several miles around, his hoarse voice almost echoing throughout the entire battlefield:

“…Hope, courage, resilience, and perseverance are beliefs we’ve always had; we just disdain praising them… Why? Because they make us feel weak and insignificant!”

“Wizards form hunting teams because they dare not face the raging demons alone… They gather because of weakness… Courage, unity, mutual aid—how much weakness hides under your na! And a wizard demon completely overcos this natural weakness! A wizard demon is an army unto itself!”

“What’s the difference between a hunting team that kills to protect and demons that kill to survive!”

The enormous shadow swiftly slid from east to west, regardless of the flying sword thrusts, the Green Snake’s wild dance, or the fluttering elegant dresses, nothing could stop him from loudly proclaiming in the air.

As if performing an ancient witch ritual dance in the air, the Duke scattered seeds of fervor, and every demon who heard his blessing felt infinite courage rise up in their hearts, their claws sharper, their teeth keener, and an endless stream of power surging from within—the power was not illusory, even Eris, far away, noticed the bulging muscles of nearby prisoners and the magic power swirling around them.

Not far away, a clear roar like striking stone rang out, and Eris recognized it as a powerful demon known as “Chizheng”:

“Young ones, don’t waste the blessings a great wizard demon has bestowed upon you!”

“Charge!!”

“Tear apart those sweet delicacies, make us stronger!”
