Chapter 1918: Chapter 139: Signatures

“Did you see clearly what those handing out the extra editions looked like?” Thomas interrupted.

Dylan frowned, appearing to be deep in thought, then shook his head in frustration: “Originally, I felt I rembered quite clearly, vaguely it was a warlock in a grey robe… but when I try to recall, it seems he wore a red robe, or perhaps a yellow robe… it also seed like it was a witch…”

The two black-robed wizards exchanged a glance and nodded slightly.

“A very strong confusion spell.”

“Consistent with feedback from other wizards.”

“An invalid lead.”

“Didn’t really expect them to provide any valid leads anyway…”

After muttering a few words, Thomas looked up again at Mister Wolfman and spread the parchnt that Hilda handed over, placing it in front of Dylan: “Now, Mr. Tabbot, you need to sign this docunt to confirm what you’ve said…”

Zheng Qing and Xin Fat Man both leaned over at the sa ti to read the parchnt with Dylan. The content was very simple, outlining the dialogue between the two teaching assistants and Dylan after they entered, except the confirmation words in the dialogue were marked with cinnabar, such as ‘no relation’, ‘don’t rember’, ‘didn’t participate’, etc.

Dylan looked around nervously, and after receiving a nod from his companions, carefully signed his na at the bottom of the parchnt.

A faint blue fla flickered across the parchnt, and in an instant, the dialogues were burnt clean.

“Very good.”

Hilda nodded in satisfaction, rolled up the parchnt, and tucked it into his bosom, then took out another scroll: “Now let’s handle the second problem.”

Saying so, he raised his head, looking around, and asked with a smile: “You must have all heard the contents of the illegal materials from Tabbot, right… don’t deny it, the school has a hundred ways to verify your words, so let’s cooperate a bit to save us all so ti.”

Zheng Qing choked back the denial he had ant to blurt out.

He cautiously observed the expressions of the two teaching assistants, which didn’t seem so grim. Then he turned to look at his companions.

Dylan tilted his head, looking confused; Xin Fat Man seed to have an inkling of sothing, his face puffing up in reluctant dissatisfaction; whereas Xiao Xiao slightly nodded at Zheng Qing.

“Yes, I heard.”

The young cost student pondered the school’s intentions internally while making his position clear, expressing anger: “I don’t know which bastard is spouting nonsense, how could Old Yao possibly be that? It’s utterly absurd! We were just discussing before going to bed that we should complain to the school tomorrow…”

Hilda rolled his eyes and tapped his ear with his finger.

“Alright, alright, there’s no outsider here.”

He raised his right hand, his wrist moving up and down as if fractured, with a face full of disdain: “No need to put on a righteous act… I knew from the start the speed at which rumors spread was ridiculously fast, and you still wouldn’t believe.”

The last part was addressed to Thomas as he turned his head.

Thomas ignored Hilda’s taunts, took the parchnt roll from his hand, stepped forward, and stood in front of the four warlocks, unfolding the parchnt.

“This is a Silence Contract, standard format, Alliance certified, you can take a closer look.”

Thomas, with a stern face, gently tapped the parchnt with his fingertip, speaking calmly and deliberately, “The contract requires you to keep silent about the contents of the illegal materials, not to believe in rumors, and certainly not to spread them… you are all adults now and must be accountable for every word you say in public.”

This demand wasn’t excessive, much better than Zheng Qing had expected. He had originally thought the school might cast a Forgetfulness Spell on them or make them drink so mory-clearing potion.

The Silence Contract passed from Thomas to Zheng Qing, who then directly handed it over to Xiao Xiao.

As a man with the title of ‘Doctor’, Xiao Xiao’s understanding of various contracts far surpassed that of the others. Zheng Qing, being very self-aware, did not intend to uphold his own paltry dignity in the face of a contract requiring signatures.

Doctor Xiao took the parchnt, adjusted his glasses, read carefully for a mont, and then nodded slightly: “Standard contract, nothing problematic, the content is clear.”

Hilda raised his eyebrows: “Do you think we’re black wizards from the Wandering Bar that we’d tamper with the contract?”

“Of course not!”

Zheng Qing laughed it off, signing his na swiftly at the bottom of the Silence Contract while changing the subject: “By the way, since you know there are black wizards at the Wandering Bar, why don’t you expel them from Buji Island… our shop is right across from the Wandering Bar, and we’re on edge every day… just before the trial, two of our shop’s clerks were attacked by black wizards and nearly lost their lives! The school does nothing about this?”

“Black wizard attack?”

“Black wizards from the Wandering Bar?”

The two teaching assistants looked at each other, speaking simultaneously.

“That’s not it.”

Zheng Qing, while passing the signed parchnt and the feather pen in his hand to Dylan, casually added, watching Dylan sign in the blank space underneath his na, “I don’t know where the black wizards ca from… but isn’t prevention better than cure, with so many black wizards in Wandering Bar, right across from us, it’s always a hidden danger.”

“Did you report it to the school?” Thomas asked seriously.

Zheng Qing was taken aback: “At the ti, Professor An from the Academy and Commissioner Andrew from Trident Sword were both on scene… do I need to report it again?”

“Andrew?”

Thomas blinked, seeming to recollect sothing, a realization dawning on his face: “Are you talking about the case where two Mouse People were attacked not long ago? Are they your shop clerks?”

“When I hired them, they were just two cute little mice.” Zheng Qing sighed deeply: “Who knew after the sumr, they would beco two rather ugly Mouse People… honestly, I preferred their cute little figures in vests.”

“The school will take further action on that matter, and will definitely inform you of any developnts.”

Thomas ignored the warlock’s complaints, keeping his gaze on the contract as it passed from Dylan to Xiao Xiao, and then from Xiao Xiao to Xin, pausing briefly before continuing, “As for the Wandering Bar… without substantial evidence, it’s difficult to act against those wizards wandering in the grey area.”

“Can I not sign?”

Xin Fat Man, holding the contract, hesitated for a mont and then looked up at the two black-robed wizards: “As a reporter for the campus newspaper, we have the freedom to preserve any information…”

“All freedom has its boundaries.” Hilda pulled out a feather pen and shoved it roughly into the Fat Wizard’s hand, urging, “This rule applies even in Alpha Fortress, and you must adhere to it.”

Xin took the feather pen and dejectedly signed his na.
