Chapter 1926: Chapter 147: Guests of the Greenhill Mansion (Part 2)

Zheng Qing, naturally not less polite than a little fox, hesitated for a few seconds. Before crossing the creek to enter No. 54 yard, he casually greeted Su Ya in the creek:

“Good evening!”

Su Ya supported her waist and stood up straight from the creek, letting the clear water flow between her legs while she glanced sideways at the young scholarship student and replied stiffly, “Not good.”

The smile hanging on Zheng Qing’s face beca slightly awkward.

This response caught him a bit off guard.

But imdiately, he thought of a smoothing remark: “Hmm… busy, huh?”

“Are you blind? Am I washing my feet in the creek at night?”

The little fox lady mocked him and then lowered her head, pretending to mumble softly yet very clearly, “Don’t know why Miss wants this scum to co to the mansion… I’ll have to stay up late tonight to scrub the floor again… wasting lamp oil.”

Zheng Qing stopped walking.

He needed to prove he wasn’t a scum.

“Staying up late to scrub the floor?”

The young scholarship student glanced inside the fence — good, no one — then put on a righteous indignation expression: “Employing child labor is wrong, let alone making you work so hard! I will definitely report this to the relevant departnts… Isn’t the Beta Town Managent Committee carrying out ‘Thunder Action’ recently? They shouldn’t ignore things like this!”

The little fox lady widened her eyes, looking at the warlock’s justifying manner, her ears perked up in surprise.

After a while, she replied hesitantly, “Actually, there’s no need for such trouble… You just need not enter the hall, then I won’t have to scrub the floor again.”

Zheng Qing wanted to chat a bit more and figure out what Su Shijun was up to, why she called him over. Suddenly a light yet harsh reprimand sounded in his ear: “Su Ya!”

Turning around, the head maid of Greenhill Mansion, Su Man, was standing at the gate of No. 54 yard, looking sternly at the ‘lazy’ little fox lady.

Su Ya pouted, obediently bending down to search in the water again.

Only then did Su Man turn to Zheng Qing, giving a gentle smile: “I apologize, Xiao Ya has stayed outside too long, and has never been good at learning rules… She didn’t say anything rude, right?”

Zheng Qing naturally wouldn’t be petty at such a mont.

“No, no, not at all,” the young scholarship student waved his hands, showing slight restraint: “I just greeted Su Ya along with Poseidon… What’s she doing in the creek at night?”

While speaking, he already followed the head maid inside the fence.

Poseidon lazily shook its tail to back the warlock’s words.

Su Man nodded slightly to Poseidon, then sighed softly, rarely showing a trace of sadness: “Soone tricked her into believing there was a Divine Spirit in the creek in front of the mansion, saying if she threw copper coins in, the Water God’s spirit would return a gold bean… Then this little fool broke her piggy bank and threw all her saved copper coins into the water.”

At this, Su Man looked back at the diligent small figure fishing for money outside the fence and shook her head again: “Miss said to let her learn a lesson and not allow magic or others to help, so after dinner, she started picking copper coins and continued until now.”

This is a heartbreaking story enough to move heaven and earth. Even Zheng Qing couldn’t help feeling a bit of pity for the little fox lady — this poor kid is too miserable.

He wasn’t sure whether it was an illusion, but he felt the little fox he was holding slightly trembled after hearing this story, seemingly suppressing laughter.

But when he looked carefully, the little fox had closed its eyes, coiled its tail, appearing to be taking a nap.

“Really… needs more learning after all.”

The warlock considered for a while and finally ca up with a suitable response, liking himself in his heart while casually asking: “By the way, why did Su Councilor call ?”

The head maid wasn’t Su Ya, unaffected by the warlock’s simple approach to conversing; she rely smiled subtly: “Miss is inside.”

Zheng Qing wasn’t disappointed, never expecting to extract any secrets from this senior maid’s mouth.

Several small figures dashed past the warlock’s feet, giggling and playing, leaving a trail of tiny glowing dots behind them, disrupting the warlock’s footsteps and thoughts.

He focused his gaze, seeing it was a group of Flower Sprites.

Even though it’s already late autumn and getting cooler, the garden is still thriving — this isn’t surprising. Last winter when Zheng Qing ca to the mansion, despite the freezing cold outside, this garden remained as warm as spring, with flowers blooming vibrantly. Compared to winter, the Flower Sprites and Grass Spirits obviously live more comfortably during this season, wearing clothes woven from petals and tender leaves, hiding behind the varied flowers and shrubs, watching the garden’s passing guests with bright eyes while making quiet and joyous laughter.

“It’s wonderful.” The warlock genuinely appreciated.

“Isn’t it!”

To Zheng Qing’s surprise, the head maid greatly appreciated this simplest praise, smiling with her eyes squinted: “Our mansion’s garden is the best throughout Buji Island! It’s because during winter, we are willing to spend honey and dew to nurture those Flower Sprites, who then devote themselves to taking care of the flowers in the garden.”

“Very excellent positive feedback.” The warlock continued to comnd.

Many tis, a subtle stalemate is broken through such simple and direct ways.

The head maid observed Zheng Qing carefully. Before leading him into the mansion’s red-tile and white-wall loft with its eaves flying high, she softly reminded: “Miss is having a eting with a guest, don’t worry.”

Zheng Qing was a bit stunned, realizing that this was the head maid’s good intention — today’s call from Su Shijun wasn’t to give him trouble.

This greatly relieved him, thanking her with a look.

However, Su Man seed unaware of the warlock’s gaze, elegantly walking ahead, leading him past the looping corridors and main hall to a side flower room.

The flower room wasn’t large but was cozily arranged. With big open fan-shaped windows directly facing the mansion’s garden, the vibrant colors outside clearly reflected into the room, giving everyone a magical sense of being imrsed within.

On both sides stood tall bookshelves, beside which were small tea tables and several plain-style cushion-like seats, plump and snug, seemingly offering an exceptionally comfortable feeling.

Zheng Qing felt the cushions more resembled cat beds than seats.

At this mont, the owner of Greenhill Mansion was curled up, sitting on one of these cushions, holding a small teacup and sipping the tea intermittently.

Beside her sat the guest the head maid ntioned.

Soone familiar to Zheng Qing.

The spiritual leader of Northern District Wizards, who also advanced to Big Wizard at a young age, Sister Korma.
