Chapter 2015: Chapter 236: Samael
Hank or Shi Yuan might still have questions, but Zheng Qing didn’t care. After swiftly solving the troubles of D&K and the little monk, he felt very satisfied, almost as if he had taken a dose of Luck Elixir.
Especially since while solving the trouble, he also found an excellent place for transformation for himself.
It was a win-win-win.
Carrıed by such a joyful mood, the black cat trotted to the Cat Fruit Tree. The evening breeze spread the aura of the Lord of the Cat Fruit Tree, awakening the little fur balls snoozing on the branches. Their yellow and greenish eyes sparkled in the night—swaying branches, countless eyes, and a chorus of cat ows blended together, making the tree feel as if it transford into a presence from the depths of the starry sky.
“Damn it!”
The Sin Bearer, wearing a white mask, jumped down from a distant plane tree, cursing under his breath, “Next ti, can you find a more decent place… Seeing such scenes too often gives you nightmares at night!”
The black cat had seen a few visitors from the starry sky, so the terrifying aura emanating from the Cat Fruit Tree didn’t frighten it. Instead, it could imdiately see through the deception.
“You could prepare a few Nightmare Dolls for yourself,” the black cat glanced at him and casually suggested, “I hear they’re quite effective.”
“I think beating it might work even better.” As he spoke, the wizard arrived under the Cat Fruit Tree, opened his arms, and flailed, making threatening noises, trying to scare those fur balls off the tree.
But with the black cat under the tree, the fur balls not only weren’t scared, but so even stood up in threes and twos, arched their backs, fluffed their fur, and mimicked the warlock’s intimidating noises in return.
The black cat looked at this fool with a concerned expression.
“You could try the Directional Transformation Technique,” it maliciously suggested, “From what I know, these little darlings on the tree are quite afraid of dogs… If you turn into a Grand Dane and just bark up the tree, the outco will surely be better than it is now.”
The Sin Bearer stroked his chin thoughtfully, “Sounds like a good idea… But I feel you’re calling less than a dog.”
“Recognizing it without saying it, we can still be good friends.” The black cat laughed heartily.
The fur balls on the tree didn’t know what was happening below, but seeing the Lord of the Cat Fruit Tree laugh, they too joined in with laughter, creating a cacophony of ows that startled a flock of resting birds. The birds flailed, flying around the treetop in confusion, screaming before calming down after a while.
Soon, three patroln with long Magic Wands and green lanterns at the top arrived upon hearing the ruckus, casting spells and probing around. Waves of magical energy spread like tides, reacting to anything, dead or alive.
Monts later, the magical fluctuations subsided.
“Don’t waste the ‘Four-Sided Curse’!”
A man, thin like a reed, retracted his law book, complaining gloomily, “Should’ve known there’s nothing here besides these cats, not even a single mouse… The bird flock was probably startled by one of the stealthy cats.”
The short wizard beside him looked up at the various sizes of fur balls on the Cat Fruit Tree, sighed with envy, “Whether or not there is anything, it’s better to check to be sure… Didn’t the student council say to strengthen patrols before the Hunting Competition to prevent people from Jiuyou and Alpha from secretly brawling… Speaking of which, that black cat is so beautiful… I’d love to steal it away.”
As he said this, his fingers unconsciously made a few grabbing gestures, looking like he couldn’t help himself.
“Co on, let’s go.”
The third mber of the patrol team pulled the short wizard, dragging him back, “If you want a cat, just buy one… Most of these cats on the tree have owners… The School Works Committee specifically told us not to disturb them… Probably soone’s important pet is in there. Don’t get any bad ideas…”
…
…
The black cat, face dark, squatted in the tree, watching the three patroln leave.
When that short wizard ntioned the word ‘beautiful’, it almost couldn’t help but pounce down and scratch up his imaginative face. But considering various reasons, the black cat ultimately gave up on this idea.
In the night, its expression of deep resentnt was not very visible—of course, the main reason was that the mask on its face concealed the black cat’s expression—but the waves of chill it exuded were easily sensed by the Sin Bearer hiding among the cat group.
“If you were a little kinder and didn’t mock people, you wouldn’t laugh, and those patroln wouldn’t have been drawn in, and you wouldn’t be sulking here now.” The voice beneath the white mask teased the black cat.
The cat tilted its head, ignoring him.
“Ah, right, you just ntioned dogs, and the one coming for your interview tonight is also a big dog.” The Sin Bearer nonchalantly continued, as if the dog reference was no big deal, “Moreover, it’s a bad-tempered big dog.”
“If you say the word ‘dog’ one more ti, I’ll twist your head off and use it as a ball.” A slightly repressed voice sounded from the shadow under the tree, and just from the voice, the black cat could imagine a sullen face.
It poked its head out, looking down the tree.
Only to spot a figure cloaked in black erging from under the tree’s shadow. The wizard wore a wolf head mask, looking indeed a bit like a big dog at first glance.
“Oh? You heard us!”
The Sin Bearer feigned surprise, but anyone could tell he was pretending, “Caught criticizing soone behind their back, how unseemly… When did you get here? Let introduce you, this is the holder of the ‘Wrath’ title among the Seven Sins, Samael.”
He looked back at the black cat, showing a sense of duty.
Though making introductions, the Sin Bearer wisely stayed in the tree without coming down—moreover, just in case, he cast a few Phantasmic Body Spells, making his entire figure appear quite blurry.
The black cat snorted, jumped off the Cat Fruit Tree, and leisurely walked towards Samael.
The wizard in the wolf head mask glanced at the black cat and then raised his head to carefully examine the Cat Fruit Tree, “…Arrived a little later than the patrol team… If not for the startled flock of birds, finding this tree wouldn’t have been easy.”
Although his tone was peaceful, Zheng Qing was very sure that if a spell could turn the Cat Fruit Tree into a large torch to burn the mouthy fellow on the tree, the wild wolf would take action without hesitation.
After repeatedly confirming he couldn’t kill the Sin Bearer, Samael decisively looked down again at the black cat, “So… You are ‘Duck Egg’s’ successor?”
Duck Egg?
Zheng Qing’s mind imdiately pictured a white, smooth mask. Indeed, the Sin Bearer’s mask did resemble a duck egg in a way, and he couldn’t help but laugh.
But after just a second of laughter, the black cat realized it was also wearing an identical white mask.
Which ant, it was also a ‘Duck Egg’?
This guy!
