The Magic Script class of Astronomy Class 08-1 is normally scheduled for Tuesdays from 2 PM to 5 PM, but in the fourteenth week of this sester, due to the festival, the class was canceled.
In theory, every class at First University is unique, and a canceled class does not have the possibility of being made up. However, Professor Montreya, who teaches the Magic Script class, is stubborn and firm, seriously applying to the Professor Joint eting for an additional class on Saturday and Sunday to compensate for the teaching loss caused by the holiday.
This application faced strong opposition from the Student Union.
Adding classes is impossible; the entire school has never heard of a precedent for making up classes lost due to holidays. The conflict between the two sides was laid on the round table of the Professor Joint eting, causing several college deans to scratch their heads.
On one hand, the serious and responsible attitude of Professor Montreya is highly comndable, and the reasons he submitted are also very substantial — including the approaching end of the sester, the recent increase in school activities, the importance of advanced Magic Script courses, and the crucial role of a solid foundation for the future of every young wizard, etc.
On the other hand, the Student Union’s rebuttal reasoning is also very strong, which is non-compliance — the school takes holidays according to regulations, and students take vacations according to regulations, while adding classes is not supported by "First University Managent Regulations" and other related ’rules’.
The old wizards at the Joint eting were entangled for quite a while, and eventually, after weighing, they provided a compromise, which was to cancel Thursday afternoon’s ’Career Planning’ and replace it with a Magic Script class.
One is a school-wide basic course, the other is a school-wide elective course, obvious which is lighter and heavier.
Thus arose the complaints such as the stick figure behind the door ’The ghost story of letting the magic portrait work overti’.
When the slender, black-robed Magic Language Professor entered the classroom, everyone lowered their heads, nervously cross-checking their respective Magic Script translations, fearing being nad by the professor to write on the blackboard.
The professor wore a stern face with a terrifying low pressure swirling around him, his sallow skin tense over his prominent cheekbones, scanning the classroom with his usual severe gaze.
Everyone held their breath like startled quails.
Bang!
A large stack of parchnt was thumped onto the lectern by the professor, the sound not loud but causing everyone’s heart to jump several tis, and the air in the classroom seed to freeze.
"I originally didn’t intend to take up your rest ti, and certainly didn’t plan to steal other teachers’ class ti."
Professor Montreya’s voice was not loud, but in the quiet classroom, it seed exceptionally clear: "However, the assignnts you submitted this week are too disappointing for ... If you continue with these poor habits of translation and writing, I very much doubt whether anyone will achieve a passing grade in the sester-end exams just a few weeks away!"
The words were sowhat heavy.
Zheng Qing subconsciously glanced at his tablemate, Xiao Xiao, whose posture was upright, his expression serious looking towards the podium, seemingly unaware that the professor’s criticism included him.
"Zheng Qing!" The professor tapped the lectern lightly but firmly.
The young cost student swiftly withdrew his wandering gaze, bouncing out of his seat as if electrocuted: "Yes, Professor!"
"What do you know about the Magic Script we are studying?"
This question was too large, Zheng Qing imdiately felt flustered, stuttering a while before answering, intermittently: "Magic Script... modern Magic Script... modern standardized Magic Script is founded on the growth principles of the Cabalistic tree... Magic Script is divided into primary Magic Script and secondary Magic Script... each Magic Script represents a phone, both sound... and then each Magic Script has a corresponding noun, which starts or ends with sounds related to Magic Script... hmm, Magic Script is composed of straight lines resembling branches, with ’branches’ heading up along the diagonal, or down, or protruding in curves, and when writing, you can write from left to right or right to left, or asymtrically flipped according to personal writing habits..."
"Stop!" Professor Montreya interrupted the warlock’s answer with a question: "Aside from writing thods, are there any other ’non-standard’ format requirents in the Magic Script you learned?"
Non-standard requirents?
Zheng Qing had so trouble understanding, shaking his head in confusion.
Bang!
The professor slapped the stack of parchnt, slightly raising his voice: "Since there are no other non-standard requirents, then why in the standard Magic Script assignnt I asked for, did so many people insert ’cipher script’? Who told you to use seven emotions and seven sufferings to refer to seven kinds of tals? Why use a snake devouring another snake to represent the process of fusion? Who taught you these taphorical and indirect writing styles?"
Upon hearing this, Zheng Qing suddenly understood the reason for the professor’s mood today.
To make an inappropriate analogy, the ’non-regulatory’ writing styles the professor ntioned are like using Martian script or emoticons in a college entrance exam essay, which young wizards see as a popular writing style, even besides being playful and cute, it can adequately express the writer’s mood.
But to the professor, this is a severe desecration of the standardized Magic Script!
(╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻!
"I know, many must be silently cursing as ’rigid’, ’unadaptable’, ’old-fashioned’, and so students will think standardized Magic Script will continue to evolve over ti, mixing these ’popular vocabulary’ in Magic Script writing is a certain manifestation of embracing the tis."
The professor pressed one hand on the lectern, gripping the lecture notes with the other, slightly restraining his anger, but his attitude remained stern: "I won’t deny any possibility. But I want to emphasize that the Magic Script class is a standardized Magic Script class... just like the statent I ingrained in you during the first class — what is Magic Script? Magic Script is the analysis of wisdom, the consciousness of each of us, a comprehensive communication thod established by wizards that is effective, belonging to wizards as ’universal language’... whether ancient Nilo-Runes or more obscure Thebes Witch Text, Malacian Mother Text, and unique scripts, etc., each type of magical text contains the respective wizard group’s understanding and developnt of magic."
"Why did magic societies of the old era dissolve with the developnt of the tis? Why did old-school wizards let their descendants enter First University to learn modern magic theory and knowledge?"
"Because ’cipher text’ represents estrangent, division, represents keeping cherished ideas like treasures and mutual distrust, represents the lost inheritance of ancient traditions, represents narrow-mindedness, obscurity, and isolation!"
"A long ti ago, magic was entirely ’mysticism’, and the wizards who hid in mage towers or deep in the forests used magic scripts that were thoroughly mysterious and unknown. To maintain their rule and authority, they deliberately used individual drawings, symbols, and strange marks to hide spells and magic knowledge... which is sothing we absolutely do not advocate! A thousand years ago, wizards left many magical insights that we may never have the opportunity to decipher; do you want wizards a thousand years from now to also be unable to understand your magic notes?"
"First University is founded on openness, inclusiveness, and mutual understanding. Even a demon, we have sufficient tolerance to accept. Even dangerous black magic experints, we can tolerate... the only thing that cannot be accepted is rebuilding walls of knowledge that prevent others from interpreting our magic!"
"This tendency must be firmly suppressed, even if only a hint!"
The professor swung his arm holding the lecture notes forcefully downward, making a decisive slicing gesture.
