The Black Cat raised its paw, smoothed its whiskers, and glanced sideways in the direction of the discarded grass snake: "I’m suddenly a bit regretful that I threw that snake away."
Dylan almost imdiately knew what the Black Cat was thinking, tapping its forehead with tweezers: "Snakes are one of the twelve zodiac animals, definitely protected under the ’Codex.’ Do you want to commit second-degree murder? We are executing the Trident Sword’s task now... knowingly breaking the law, the penalty is harsher!"
"Or, I could have Furry Bean find more bird nests and such, burn them for divination?" After being tapped on the forehead, the Black Cat’s mind instantly ca up with a second thought: "As long as the data is extensive enough, and the sample size big enough, we can surely find the intersection point between them... then locate that guy!"
"With enough magic power, you could even destroy the world."
Mister Blood Werewolf put away the tweezers, gazed at the Black Cat, and sighed deeply, speaking in a gloomy tone: "On the first page of the Divination textbook, it says ’Divination carries risks, caution is needed.’ Professor Yi emphasizes it each class, have you forgotten? ... Much like tonight, on the riverbank, waiting for the hunting hounds were the cat and the wizard.
This long cycle of ’wait-disappointnt-continue waiting’ persisted until dawn, never broken by unexpected surprises.
Furry Bean brought back prey ranging from bird nests, grass snakes, brown bear cubs to baby ogres, socks from warlocks, underwear from witches, and lecture notes from teachers—luckily, it didn’t actually bring back a monkey nor managed to drag so unlucky fellow from the dormitory before the Black Cat; unluckily though, even after burning that slly sock and so underwear, Dylan still couldn’t read more valuable information from the bone fragnts.
The only certainty was that the wizard was indeed soone from the school.
Before this reckless Gouzi caused even more trouble, the Black Cat finally decided to abandon the night’s hustle, halting Gouzi’s further hunting task.
During this ti, young wizards by the riverbank sent two Paper Cranes to companions staying at Gini Cottage on Gu Diao Street’s 33rd number, reporting updates and safety.
They also received two Paper Cranes.
The first Paper Crane received conveyed Xiao Xiao’s ssage to Zheng Qing and others that a wizard nad Varis had been successfully captured by Northern District Wizards, at the cost of one Northern District Wizard severely injured and multiple slightly injured—throughout the process, the North District Grand-Wizard remained silently observing, not involving himself—with this point, Xiao Xiao praised in the letter, viewing it as a hallmark of Northern District Wizards gaining independence and maturity.
The second Paper Crane was from Xin Fat Man, expressing in the letter that with the help of Northern District Wizard Group, Xiao Xiao had conducted ’limited understanding’ of the captive, extracting white sh resembling Da Ya Moss sprites and two-headed ogres from its skin, and discovered a brass piece on its spine.

When the Black Cat and two partners returned to Gu Diao Street’s 33rd number, the small garden inside the fence had reverted to origin, the cherry blossoms in the corner, the shallow stream in the canal, the tender grass, and tidy shrubbery all looked the sa as when he first ca here.
Though, walking through the garden, the gravelly yet stiff stone pathway beneath his feet and the fresh grass with traces of moisture on either side silently told him all of this was no longer things he once saw in this garden.
The spectators had already dispersed.
Other Northern District patrol team mbers returning from inquiries stood scattered in the garden, whispering among each other, casting scrutinizing glances toward the entering Black Cat and two young wizards.
The Black Cat was long accustod to such looks, nonchalantly following the scent to find its companions.
He found Xiao Xiao and Xin Fat Man in front of the bar of the first-floor tavern. At that ti, the two were enjoying a plate of fried peanuts, drinking a bottle of Sea Monster Langmu, their complexions like the sumr water of Lin Zhong Lake, so blue it looked black.
"Where’s my robe?"
The Black Cat looked around, planning to quickly dispel the Transformation spell—as handling hunting team tasks as a cat had too many inconveniences.
Fatty gestured towards the second floor of Sakura Pub.
"Oh, no!"
The Black Cat pressed a paw to its eyes, feeling an ache in its skull, then self-consoled: "It’s alright, just a robe... I have spares."
He silently mourned for that robe for half a second, preparing to toss it alongside tonight’s bad experiences into the deep recesses of mory’s trash bin.
But apparently, the hunting team’s diviner didn’t want their captain to easily escape this trouble.
"This Mister Black Cat,"
Xiao Xiao squatted down before the Black Cat, seriously adjusting his glasses: "I’m just reminding you, losing a robe is easy, but making the lost robe disappear is difficult... You wouldn’t want the monitor to find your robe in so witch’s room, right?"
Unsure if it was an illusion, he felt the Black Cat’s fur turn white in an instant after this sentence. Of course, it might just have been the moonlight sweeping across its face, tinting the black fur.
"Alright, alright, damn it."
The Black Cat withdrew its paw from the Grey Cloth Bag and cursed as it climbed up to the second floor, not taking the stairs but scaling along the wooden beams: "Is this so you want to retrieve the robe? No, you just want to take the bla! Staying with her all night, why can’t you just ask directly? Why push this hassle onto ?"
"Because you’re the captain of Absolution." The Fat Wizard replied with a bright smile.
"And you have more dealings with Big Wizard." Xiao Xiao also smiled leniently.
The Black Cat stuck its butt out at the corner of the second floor, releasing a fart towards the two downstairs.
