Tap, tap.
Su Shijun strolled down Beta Town Pedestrian Street in the chilly morning air.
After leaving Greenhill Mansion, she didn’t head to the lab as Zheng Qing had imagined, but instead sought soone to vent her frustrations. Ever since learning about Zheng Qing’s ordeal at the banquet last night, she had attributed the direct cause to her own early departure.
So, she was not happy now.
Very unhappy.
When a Big Wizard is unhappy, it affects the surrounding environnt. Even if she is the most beautiful woman in the Wizard World, the pervasive chilling aura still acted like invisible walls of tension, forcing pedestrians to avoid her. Where once three or five words of dispute among street vendors would summon the Beta Town Patrol Team and Trident Detectives, they were now nowhere to be seen. Shops along the street, well-accustod to such events, hurriedly closed the windows and doors they had just opened that morning. Groups gathered behind the doors, peering through cracks at the striking figure striding along the street, engaging in hushed debates.
"What’s going on?"
"Who has provoked this little lady again!"
"Is it a Big Wizard duel?"
"Even if there is a duel, who would dare trouble a mber of the Moon Council Upper House?"
"Now that you ntion it, I think it might be an internal conflict within the Moon Council... Did you hear? Duke Milton from Karen’s family ca to the island last night, supposedly for so banquet..."
"The Moon Council wouldn’t air their internal disputes in public like this."
"That’s not necessarily true... Didn’t Duke Milton always pursue Su Councilor? But now the child is almost two years old! Isn’t this the legendary ’love turning into hate’? I heard that the Big Wizard who dismantled Karen’s family’s mansion in the west district late at night not long ago was Su Councilor!"
"Silence! Don’t you want to live?"
"Truly fearless ignorance, daring to speak such words!"
Whoosh!
A fierce wind swept through the street, rolling tables and chairs around, even causing tightly shut doors and windows to creak loudly. The murmuring noise vanished, and they silently watched the tall figure stride forward step by step.
It wasn’t until Su Shijun’s figure disappeared from the street that the onlookers hidden behind the doors collectively exhaled a small sigh of relief.
"That’s the presence of a Big Wizard..."
This statent obviously ca from an unenlightened outsider.
Imdiately, an elderly local scoffed in response: "This is nothing... every year during the Silent Black Tide, seven or eight Big Wizards co here... In the outside world, Big Wizards are sothing, but on our Buji Island, if there aren’t a hundred, there are at least seventy or eighty of them."
This was certainly an exaggeration, but those who are unenlightened are unenlightened because they can’t distinguish between exaggeration and fact.
So the outsider imdiately exclaid in awe: "Really? That’s amazing!"
"What’s amazing about it! Did you see this morning’s Beta Town Post? A Black Wizard, recognized as a top-tier Big Wizard by the Alliance, fell on the island yesterday! I told others yesterday that with the lightning and thunder over by the Silent Forest, sothing big was bound to happen!"
"If you stay on the island a little longer, you’re sure to witness more rare events, provided you have the right location. Let recomnd a hotel for you..."
Of course, Su Shijun could hear those whispers hidden behind the doors.
But she didn’t listen.
The reason for clearing the street was rely to be cautious and avoid injuring the innocent. Ever since stepping onto the pedestrian street, all her attention was focused intently on her target, a clash of intense auras like two sharp blades.
Tap, tap.
The witch’s footsteps halted at 99 Pedestrian Street.
To the left, as expected, San You Bookstore was silent, its dusty windows seed untouched for a long ti, appearing particularly desolate against the neighboring shops.
Then she looked to the right, even though it was winter break and early morning, the Wandering Bar had already started business. The big frog at the entrance was clutching its head, butt high in the air, trembling in the shadow of the doorway, just as it had the last ti the witch visited.
"Boom!"
A massive azure fox tail erged from behind the witch, soaring like a roaring green dragon, crashing into the Wandering Bar’s door without hesitation.
"Bang!"
This ti, the Wandering Wizard managed to protect his storefront. A faint gray barrier appeared, shielding the bar’s door and the big frog at the entrance together.
"Good morning, Su Councilor."
The gray barrier dissipated, revealing the owner of Wandering Bar’s troubled face. He tipped his hat and bowed ticulously: "May I ask what brings you to smash the store this ti..."
Su Shijun seed not to hear the elder wizard’s inquiry and spoke to herself: "Before breakfast, I felt like I missed so very clear clues. Clues so close that they were overlooked. I still can’t rember them even now. But I think you should know."
This statent was particularly unreasonable.
The Wandering Wizard showed a rare look of astonishnt, then after a mont, slightly tugged the corner of his mouth into a reluctant smile: "I’m not quite sure what you an..."
"Give a clue about those ravens." The witch’s attitude was cold, and behind her, three fox tails erged again, swirling and exuding an astonishing aura: "I know they must be connected to you."
The Wandering Wizard carefully eyed those three fox tails.
Su Shijun had advanced to a Big Wizard less than two years ago. Theoretically, having one solidified tail would already be very impressive. He distinctly rembered the last ti this Moon Council Upper House mber smashed his store, she had only one solid tail.
And now, all four of her tails were solid.
Excluding the possibility of a secret deal with the ravens or the talented Qingqiu Successor using so forbidden magic to push her limits, he had reason to believe that the witch had obtained so extraordinary opportunity.
In the Wandering Wizard’s view, no true extraordinary opportunities exist in this world; what people call opportunities are rely the silent care of elders for juniors.
He caressed the brim of his pointed hat.
"You should know," the elder wizard gently reminded: "This is Buji Island, a place of legend in the Wizard World, also housing legends of the Wizard World. Whenever They want, finding a raven is easy; whenever They wish, every word we say in private can be heard clearly."
The implication was that the school tacitly allowed those ravens to exist — at least to so extent.
"I know." Su Shijun lowered her eyes, her fox tails displaying slight impatience.
The Wandering Wizard displayed a trace of confusion: "Then why are you still looking for ?"
"Because I can’t beat Them." The witch answered calmly: "And you are the most likely person to provide with a clue."
The Wandering Wizard was montarily speechless.
After a while, he forced a bitter smile: "What a... unreasonable world."
