341: Chapter 10: Eyewitness_1 341: Chapter 10: Eyewitness_1 Zheng Qing closed his eyes in fear.

A bone-chilling cold rushed at him, making him clamp his eyelids shut even tighter.

A long ti passed.

When he opened his eyes again, he couldn’t help but feel disoriented.

The moisture-laden lakeside of Bell Lake was no longer in front of him.

Misty green smoke swirled around him, and warm orange light filled the room.

He didn’t know when he had returned to the principal’s office of Jiuyou Academy.

He wiped off the cold sweat from his forehead.

The horrifying figure in his mind vanished.

Only the slender pale hand, the dead kitten Xiao Bai, and an indescribable palpitation were left.

“I saw it!” He shouted, leaping up from the leather chair, but the words were choked back before he could blurt them out.

Professor Yao sat behind the desk, arms crossed, and biting a pipe.

His head was once again enveloped in billowing green smoke.

By the side of the desk, stood an old janitor in a grey robe, who, wearing reading glasses, was flipping through Zheng Qing’s dical report patiently, page by page.

Upon hearing young wizard’s shout, the two old n looked up in unison, their faces etched with curiosity.

“What did you see?” Old Yao removed the pipe from his mouth and asked gently.

Zheng Qing opened his mouth and furrowed his brows.

“I forgot…” Finally, a helpless look surfaced on his face.

He said regretfully, “I clearly rembered it just then, and in the blink of an eye, I completely forgot… I only rember that it was sothing terrifying.”

“Terrifying?” The old janitor emphasized, asking in a loud, clear voice, “Does it have to do with the school’s safety?”

Zheng Qing hesitated, then slowly nodded.

“It probably has sothing to do with it,” he said uncertainly.

“I have a feeling it has sothing to do with a demon…”

Old Yao suddenly coughed loudly, interrupting the young scholarship student’s further description.

“Before you confirm it, I think we should tell you the results of the examination,” the professor tapped the table, smiling as he said, “As for school safety…which major safety incident at the university hasn’t been related to a demon?”

The old janitor’s white eyebrows rose a little, but he remained silent.

“Based on your state after you fell asleep, we are quite certain that you are an ‘Observer’.” Old Yao very straightforwardly laid out the conclusion, and at the sa ti pushed a few pages of docunts across the table.

“To be precise, we’re 93% sure.”

The soft paper seed to be held up by an invisible hand, slowly, steadily, floating to Zheng Qing’s side.

“Such precision huh…” The young scholarship student muttered, his eyes falling on the docunts.

Dense formulas, data, and graphics flooded his sight like a tide, seemingly infinite.

He quickly gave up trying to understand the docunts.

Raising his head, looking at Old Yao’s encouraging gaze, he tentatively asked, “What’s the other 7% chance?”

“So not-so-great results,” the old janitor next to him bluntly cut off Zheng Qing’s inquiry.

He turned his head towards Old Yao and asked in a loud voice, “Should we tell him?”

“No chance, no chance,” the professor waved his hands dismissively.

Zheng Qing gave a few awkward laughs but didn’t continue asking.

But he quickly thought of another question.

“What is a…” He recalled the professor’s term and carefully repeated, “Observer?”

This question received a comprehensive explanation.

An ‘Observer’ has a special divination talent.

Or rather, wizards with this ability can use certain high-level divination techniques directly without training.

Although, after thousands of years of developnt, divination has gradually left the realm of occult studies.

However, there are still many unsolved mysteries in this discipline that confuse the wizards.

For instance, the ‘vision’ in divination.

Different wizards can learn the sa divination techniques, but the scenes they see during divination are different.

Wizards with only ordinary vision, under proper conditions, can predict vague results, receiving ambiguous utterances such as ‘great luck’ or ‘great misfortune’.

Most diviners in the wizarding world fall into this category.

They can only constantly practice those complicated and profound divination techniques to beco a regular diviner.

Wizards with special vision, however, are different.

They can see clearer scenes and achieve more precise results.

These special visions include Turtle Shell, Heavenly Eye, Crystal Ball, Star Signs, Clouds and Mists, Tea Leaves, and even Dreams.

In the long developnt of witchcraft, wizards have mapped out different career paths for these visions.

For example, Omniscient, Prophet, Observer, Listener, and the Eye-witness.

As the saying goes, one’s dayti thoughts influence their nightti dreams; one can glean many elents of divination from dreams.

So wizards, whose vision belongs to dreams, can beco Observers.

In their dreams, they can perfectly recall so morable or unforgettable events and perfectly simulate the scenes at the ti – as if they had witnessed them in person.

This is also the most direct reason why wizards na this special talent ‘Observer’.

In a sense, their spirits are actually transcending the river of ti.

However, just like Prophets can’t see future events at any ti or place, most Observers can only touch so fragnted scenes under specific circumstances.

“Even just fragnts of scenes are quite astonishing facts.”

Old Yao seed very satisfied with the test results.

His face was filled with wrinkles, which bunched up like a massive chrysanthemum, “Many Observers are recruited by the Safety Investigation Bureau…because each of you has the potential to beco an excellent detective.”

“The dreams of veteran Observers can even serve as court evidence in the highest wizard court.” The old janitor next to him wasted no ti in adding his bit.

At the sa ti, he handed Zheng Qing a form.

“What’s this?” The young scholarship student took the paper in confusion.

“The special talent registration form for Jiuyou Academy.” The old janitor read out the title of the form in a monotone.

He nodded his head and said, “As the na suggests… any student with a special talent will have to register in the school.”

“It’s both a responsibility to the wizarding world – as wizards with these abilities are all valuable assets of the wizarding world,” Old Yao explained on the side, “And a responsibility to the students themselves.”

“Only Jiuyou Academy possesses the necessary capabilities and resources to explore the secrets behind these talents.”

Zheng Qing nodded repeatedly.

He took out his brush from the grey cloth bag and wet it with his tongue.

“Do I have to fill out all the information on it?” He looked at the ‘Have you had adult experience?’ option on the form, looking troubled.

“The ones marked with an asterisk are compulsory.

The rest are optional.”

The young scholarship student took a deep breath in relief, the tip of his brush skipping over that question imdiately.
