The weather turned gloomy, large raindrops relentlessly pounded the ground.
Mu Yichen’s car stopped by the roadside; not far away, three n surrounded a woman, who, coincidentally, was his temporary secretary, Yang Qin.
There wasn’t really any effective weapon inside the car, but he recalled there was an umbrella inside, perhaps he could use it to shield himself a bit.
"Don’t co any closer!"
Yang Qin held a small dagger in her hand, one ant for self-defense, but against these three towering n, her little dagger seed utterly useless.
Yet, she had to endure; only by keeping calm in danger could she have a tiny chance.
"Cut the crap! Get in the car!"
The n absolutely disregarded the item she held; one moved forward to grab her, distracting her, while another, from her other side, directly seized her, swiftly snatching away her dagger, then coldly glanced at the car, prompting the other two to carry her inside.
Mu Yichen hadn’t yet gotten out of the car when he saw, through the rain, a van quickly departing, instinctively he turned the wheel to follow.
There were just three people; barring any surprise, he could handle it alone.
So, he dashed forward alone, and after about ten minutes, the van parked in an alley. His car couldn’t go further, but he heard the sound of the car door ahead and Yang Qin’s painful cries.
Yang Qin was pushed to the ground, hugging her shoulders in agony, looking at the three n surrounding her in the corner.
The heavy rain drenched her completely while the n casually undid their belts in the rain, as if nothing was amiss.
"You will pay for this."
Yang Qin had resigned herself to defeat; she had no chance left, destined to be sullied by these sordid, despicable n, as she gazed at their faces with angry yet frail eyes, vowing to avenge herself if she saw them again.
There was a sound of honking from behind; the three n looked out in the rain.
Mu Yichen had called the police, but if he didn’t get out of the car before they arrived, Yang Qin would likely be dood, so he opened the umbrella Qin Mu cherished most and stood in the rain.
The mont his clean shoes touched the ground, they were imdiately soaked by the splashing rainwater, slightly dampening his neat pant legs, yet this did not affect his charisma in the slightest.
——
Qin Mu anxiously waited by the window in the apartnt living room; her heartbeat was excessively fast. If Mu Yichen stood her up last ti because of a petty argunt, then this ti?
Actually, it shouldn’t be, but there was a vague uneasiness within her; she had already called several tis, but there was no answer.
Later, driven by sothing unknown, she donned a sweater and took an umbrella out the door.
She wanted to wait for him; after standing by the unit building entrance for a while, she felt increasingly distressed, so before she could catch her breath, she opened the umbrella and strode out.
Her high heels were wet, seemingly splashed with water inside, but she didn’t care much, for she just wanted to see if his car had already arrived at the compound entrance.
Her sweater was sprinkled with so mist; she looked around for a while at the entrance.
Several cars entered, and so cars exited from within, but...
She lowered her head later, quietly staring at her feet, feeling the sensation growing increasingly intense.
Sothing might have happened to him, clutching her phone tightly; she dialed him again, but the call couldn’t go through.
Tears inexplicably welled up, she pressed the phone screen anxiously, searching for the familiar number; first, she called Qiao Yi, who was his constant company, yet Qiao Yi ntioned he had left early, not wanting her to wait too long.
After hanging up, Qin Mu looked into the distance, a black car gently approached her; she grew excited, yet her eyes blurred, unable to discern the license plate, although it seed to be the sa car.
Until that car passed by her, splashing dirty water onto her pants and sweater, she slowly realized it wasn’t him.
She saw the license plate clearly, then lowered her head, clutching her phone, re-selecting Mu Yichen’s number from the dialed calls and contacting him again.
There was still no answer.
Qin Mu’s mood sank into the depths of the sea, unsure who to call, knowing he promised to co to her, and he wouldn’t lie.
