"So, what do you think? My plan?"

Lockhart looked as if he had just opened the door to a brave new world. If Kane were to give a decent, objective evaluation, he would sum it up in one phrase:

The man has gone completely "book-crazy."

Furthermore, the most important factor was Harry. There was a truly unreasonable, "makes-you-want-to-curse" reason why Harry couldn't leave the Dursleys' house yet, which made the whole rescue plot very awkward.

The second factor was that Kane had his own plans. Besides upgrading Pee Pee Shrimp, another massive headache had arrived.

Since Hogwarts break started, it was technically spring. Recalling the tragic winter where he nearly froze into a skeleton, Kane knew he had to prepare for the rainy season and the sumr heat ahead of ti.

Priority one: Spring rain protection. England is a swampy ss that rains year-round. Since the Deerclops hadn't chased him out of the Constant during the winter, Kane couldn't pluck out its eyeball.

This ant the Eyebrella—which provides 100% protection against rain and heat—was off the table.

As for umbrellas... they were fine, but they required a free hand. For a "poor little orphan" like him, having to hold his own umbrella was a total lack of prestige. He didn't have a cute little servant to hold it for him, so he refused to carry one himself.

After weighing his options, the only "Don't Starve-style" gear left was the Rain Coat.

If he didn't craft the raincoat during the holidays, he'd be miserable co September when the English rainy season exploded.

As for why it hadn't rained when Kane first arrived at Hogwarts last year... according to Maxwell, it was probably "newbie protection." Last year's rain was gentle; this year's rain promised to be violent.

Having made up his mind to grind out a raincoat, Kane decisively rejected Lockhart's proposal to save Harry. It wasn't that he wouldn't save him, but it had to be a slow, planned rescue—at least thirty days away.

Lockhart, however, still wanted to argue about the necessity of imdiate action, how much the book would sell, and how many Galleons he could give Kane as a dividend.

To be honest, the bit about the dividends sounded like a total scam. Kane rejected him again, this ti with a logical argunt:

"What famous author puts the climax right at the beginning? You need build-up! You wait for the plot to reach its peak, and then you let it explode!"

Kane channeled an energy that said, 'Nobody knows novels better than ,' successfully convincing Lockhart to drop the early rescue. Instead, Lockhart packed up Little Pumpkin, hopped onto Pee Pee Shrimp, and set off for the Romney Marsh.

"By the way, Kane, how fast is this broom after the upgrade?" Lockhart asked from the back. He was clinging to Kane for dear life, still haunted by the mory of being shaken off the broom previously.

"There are no words. All I can say is... look forward to the afterlife."

As Kane spoke, he slowly levitated Pee Pee Shrimp.

That one sentence successfully triggered Lockhart's trauma regarding extre speed. He suddenly lost his nerve.

"Actually, Kane, I just rembered we haven't checked out of the hotel yet. Can you let down? I should go back for the security deposit."

Kane ignored him completely. "My dear Lockhart, a man of your status and wealth cares about a deposit? How much could it possibly be?"

With that, Kane slamd down the handles. With a chanical roar, the broom shot into the sky and pierced through the clouds in the blink of an eye. Lockhart's voice drifted down, thin and haunting:

"Fifty pounds! It's fifty bloody pounds!"

This leg of the journey was incredibly smooth. While Lockhart was still useless—unable to cast even a simple bird-repelling charm—Pee Pee Shrimp now had a Teleport function. If they encountered a flock of birds, they simply flashed right through them.

If they accidentally overshot their destination? Easy. If a "Water Droplet" craft from science fiction makes thirty-degree turns without slowing down, Pee Pee Shrimp's one-degree acute-angle "super-turn" made it look like a rank amateur!

With a sharp tail-flick, Pee Pee Shrimp skidded to a halt by the edge of a marshy lake. Kane pulled a pair of boots from Little Pumpkin's mouth, stepped into the wet mud, and made a satisfying squelch-slurp sound.

Lockhart, trembling, leaned against the broom and lowered his legs to the ground. However, his strength failed him, and he collapsed with a thud—kneeling directly into the swamp.

"You know, Lockhart, I think you have a talent that ordinary people lack," Kane said dryly, watching Lockhart sink.

"Good heavens, Kane! Instead of making sarcastic remarks or 'dissing' , don't you think saving from this bog is more appropriate?" Lockhart slapped the mud that was slowly consuming him.

"Do you want to hear what your talent is?" Kane asked with a smile that suggested he wouldn't save him until he answered.

"Fine, Kane! Just say it! Before the mud reaches my neck!"

"You have a natural gift for cody." Kane took a light step forward. As the shadows beneath his feet corroded the marsh, a purple tentacle suddenly whipped out from under Lockhart. It coiled around the man and tossed him onto solid ground.

"I—! rlin's beard! Kane, run! That might be a magical creature we've never seen before!" Lockhart scrambled to his feet, realized the horror of what had just happened, and shouted a warning.

Kane heard him, but he wasn't going anywhere. He had summoned those Tentacles via shadow specifically to kill them and harvest Tentacle Spots for his raincoat.

Lockhart watched as Kane stood there "dazed," while the tentacles lashed about. Caught between the options of running away or fighting a giant tentacle with his bare hands...

He chose to try and pry open Little Pumpkin's mouth to get his wand. Before he could succeed, he heard a whistle of air. A slender, black streak of magic flashed through his peripheral vision.

Lockhart knew Kane was talented, but he still struggled to accept things that defied the standard wizarding worldview.

His instinct told him that black flash was a "slash" from Kane. His logic told him Kane was just a child—even if he was stronger than a fraud like himself, this was impossible.

Maybe there's a veteran adventurer-wizard vacationing nearby?

Lockhart desperately wanted to believe the second option, but reality was hard to ignore. He looked back. The black energy blade on Kane's wand was dissipating. The giant tentacle had been sliced clean through.

A perfectly "parted" tentacle lay on the ground.

Kane turned to look at Lockhart, who was still trying to pry his wand out of the pumpkin's mouth. He raised an eyebrow.

"I'll just assu you were trying to get your wand to save ."
