Now reading: Chapter 461 462: Removing the Resurrection Stone’s Curse from Hogwarts: Proficiency Panel, a Action novel by Eroking.

A few minutes later, Sean carefully retrieved the Resurrection Stone. He noticed

Headmaster Dumbledore staring at it with unmasked intensity, prompting Sean to

guardedly place the stone at his side.

"Do the elderly always suffer such rejection from the young?" Dumbledore winked.

Sean held Dumbledore's gaze for several seconds, until the Headmaster finally,

with a resigned sigh, looked away.

"Mr. Fawkes, could you help ?" Sean asked, turning his attention to the

phoenix nestled on his lap, its warmth seeping into his legs.

Fawkes nodded with uncanny human-like understanding and gently picked up the

ring in his beak. In an instant, the phoenix erupted into flas. He collapsed

onto the floor, shrinking into a wrinkled, scrawny heap, and ceased his flight

altogether.

The noon sun had fully ascended, bathing Dumbledore's office in brilliant light.

The glass case holding the Sword of Godric Gryffindor glowed with a milky

luster, and the silver instrunts glittered like raindrops. Behind them, the

chick-sized Fawkes let out a faint peep from his nest of ashes.

He gave a few hungry squawks, and Sean fed the phoenix so herbs without

hesitation. Sean frowned slightly, and Dumbledore noted the look of concern on

his face.

"You're feeding him too much," Dumbledore said with a helpless smile.

"So, you knew..." Sean collected the Resurrection Stone, which Fawkes had spat

out, and tucked it into his Wizard's To.

"Oh, there is very little that happens in this castle that escapes my notice,"

Dumbledore replied, eyes twinkling. "Why not take it out and have a look?"

Sean didn't answer. He simply stared at Dumbledore in silence, and the

Headmaster understood the unspoken ssage. It was curious—the way the boy

looked at him reminded Dumbledore of how Muggle children looked at elderly

relatives who begged for sweets despite having a serious illness.

"Mr. Fawkes will be fine, won't he?" Sean asked.

"Of course. You're leaving already?" Dumbledore smiled.

"If you have no objections, Headmaster."

Dumbledore lifted his cup of hot tea. "Do you rember the Tale of the Three

Brothers?"

"Three powerful wizards who created three powerful magical objects," Sean

replied.

"I am relieved you didn't call them the Deathly Hallows," Dumbledore said

slowly.

No one can escape Death, Sean thought, his mind lingering on the stone within

his To. It could only summon the empty, emotionless souls of wizards.

"A simple enough truth, yet so few understand it. It is rumored that if one

legally possesses all three items, they beco the 'Master of Death.' This is

generally interpreted as being invincible, or perhaps immortal. What do you

think?" Dumbledore watched Sean intently.

"I think the moral of the story is clear: Death will eventually take us all,"

Sean said calmly.

"How rare—you possess no fear of death. But should you change your mind, my dear

Green, I hope you rember that the Elder Wand does indeed exist in my

possession. However, I hope even more that you never have a reason to rember

it. People change; the future is never set in stone." Dumbledore sighed.

"Perhaps one in a million is fit to possess all the Hallows. I am only fit to

possess the most insignificant, the least remarkable of them. I am fit to own

the Elder Wand, and I must not boast of it, nor use it to kill. I may ta it,

use it, because I do not take it to possess, but to save others. This is all I

wish to say. If you can rember these words at so crossroads in your life, I

shall be content."

With Dumbledore's final words, the doors to the office swung open.

Hope Cottage.

Sean retrieved the Resurrection Stone from his Wizard's To. His mind couldn't

help but return to Dumbledore's words. The Hallows were certainly a temptation,

but...

Sean opened his panel:

[Wizard Sean, Potions Talent: Blue] [Wizard Sean, Herbology Talent: Blue]

[Wizard Sean, Magical Creatures Talent: Light Purple] [Wizard Sean, Charms

Talent: Light Purple] [Wizard Sean, Transfiguration Talent: Purple] [Wizard

Sean, Dark Magic Talent: Gold] [Wizard Sean, Alchemy Talent: Gold]

The panel had remained unchanged for a long ti, but in his second year, Sean

had managed to complete at least two advancents:

[Obstruction Jinx: Master level] [Petrificus Totalus: Master level]

[Sectumsempra: Master level] [Reducto: Master level] [Exploding Charm: Master

level] [Knockback Jinx: Master level...]

[Advancent: Seven Master-level Dark Arts spells unlock the Title: Master of

Dark Magic (6/7)]

One more Master-level Dark spell, and he would earn the Title. Sean didn't know

what changes it would bring, but his "Transfiguration Master" title had granted

him a comprehensive, all-encompassing perception in that field: [Transfiguration

Master: Significantly enhances unique sensory perception in all domains of

Transfiguration.] This had indirectly helped him pioneer his own Transfiguration

spell-system, such as Dragon's Wings and Vine-Stone Guardian.

Furthermore, his alchemy was reaching its final stages:

[Advanced Alchemy - Magic Hand Mirror: Adept (700/900)] [Advanced Alchemy -

Wizard's To: Expert (7000/9000)] [Advanced Alchemy - Fairy Tale Biscuits:

Master (700/?)] [Advancent: Three types of Master-level Advanced Alchemical

Artifacts unlock the Title: Master of Alchemy (1/3)]

Indeed, the Magic Hand Mirror had been classified as an Advanced Alchemical

Artifact. Now, learning one final Dark spell and perfecting the final portions

of the Hand Mirror and the To was Sean's final task for his second year.

Reviewing his plan one last ti, Sean cautiously took out the Resurrection

Stone. It was a black stone etched with deep, intricate patterns. Although Sean

could not break the curse upon it, his "Gold-tier" Dark Magic talent inford

him that the stone no longer possessed the aura of Dark Magic.

Sean stared at the stone, wondering if it could be brought into the Lands

Between. If he could, he might be able to fulfill the requests of both Newt and

Dumbledore simultaneously.

In the balmy warmth of May, there was rarely a biting wind. The stars above the

Ravenclaw tower were exceptionally bright tonight. Thin mist drifted in,

creating an atmosphere that evoked the ancient fables wizards whispered among

themselves:

"Curses at dusk, broken by the stroke of midnight."

And the legendary items—the Deathstick, the Destiny Wand, the Cloak of

Invisibility, the Resurrection Stone—remained as distant and compelling as ever.

Tonight, Sean sat in the Ravenclaw tower, clutching the Resurrection Stone while

wearing the Void Rune, and drifted into sleep.

But his soul once more plunged into the misty, shimring dreamscape.
