But instead of compassion, Samuel felt only contempt. "Why should I give you anything?" he sneered. "I've worked hard for my money. If you're poor, it's your own fault." With a cruel laugh, Samuel tossed a single coin at Tom's feet and continued on his way.

That night, Samuel was visited by a strange and mysterious figure in his dreams—a specter with hollow eyes and a voice that echoed like the wind. "You have amassed great wealth, Samuel Gris, but at what cost? Your greed has left a trail of misery and despair. You will see the consequences of your actions."

When Samuel awoke the next morning, he felt an odd heaviness in his chest, but he dismissed it as nothing more than indigestion. As the day went on, however, the heaviness grew, and with it ca a sense of unease. By nightfall, Samuel could hardly breathe.

He looked in the mirror and gasped in horror—his reflection showed not the successful businessman he prided himself on being, but a grotesque figure, bloated and twisted by greed.

Desperate, Samuel rushed out of his luxurious penthouse and into the streets, seeking help. But as he stumbled through the city, he realized that no one could see him. He was invisible, a phantom in the world he once controlled. He reached the spot where he had seen Tom, the beggar, the day before.

Tom was still there, shivering in the cold, but now Samuel noticed sothing strange—Tom's eyes were locked onto him, as if he could see the invisible figure Samuel had beco.

"You," Samuel croaked, his voice barely a whisper. "You can see ?"

Tom nodded slowly, a sad smile on his lips. "I see you, Samuel. I see what you've beco. Your greed has consud you, and now you are nothing more than a shadow of your forr self."

"Help ," Samuel begged. "I'll give you anything—money, food, a place to live. Just help !"

But Tom shook his head. "You have nothing left to give, Samuel. All the wealth in the world can't save you now."

As the words left Tom's lips, Samuel felt the ground beneath him give way. He was falling, sinking into an abyss of darkness. The weight in his chest grew heavier and heavier until it crushed the last breath out of him. And then, there was nothing.

When the city awoke the next morning, no one noticed that Samuel Gris was gone. His wealth was divided among his heirs, who squandered it in no ti. The world moved on, and the only one who rembered Samuel was Tom, who continued to sit on the sa corner, his hand outstretched, waiting for soone to show him a kindness that had long since vanished from the world.
