Chapter 1202: Story 1202: Quarantine Protocol
INT. MOBILE QUARANTINE UNIT – NIGHT
Red lights pulse inside a reinforced military transport. The interior slls of antiseptic and sweat. Panic buzzes in the air as eight civilians, bound in isolation seats, jolt with every turn. Among them: JASON (28, ex-paradic), LENA (22, student, shell-shocked), and DR. CALVIN RHO (50s, stern governnt virologist).
LOUDSPEAKER:
“Quarantine Zone Epsilon-4. Do not remove restraints. Remain calm.”
Lena stares wide-eyed at Jason, whispering.
LENA:
“They said we’d be safe… why the restraints?”
JASON (grim):
“If you were in Zone 9 two hours ago, you’re not safe. You’re considered exposed.”
Suddenly, the vehicle halts with a violent lurch. Screams erupt. A soldier from the rear compartnt opens the inner hatch, blood streaked across his armor.
SOLDIER (panicked):
“They’re inside! We’ve got breach on the north gate!”
DR. RHO:
“Do NOT open the—”
The soldier collapses, neck torn. Sothing growls behind the door. Chaos erupts as the infected breach the rear. Jason kicks at the restraints holding him to the bench.
JASON (to Lena):
“We have to cut loose—NOW!”
He grabs a shattered piece of tal from the floor, slicing at the strap around his wrist. The infected crawl in from the back—humanoid, twitching, their flesh covered in blackened veins and lesions. One lets out an ear-piercing screech as it lunges.
DR. RHO (shouting):
“They’re not just infected! They’re adapting! They’re evolving in hours!”
Jason frees himself and pulls Lena free next. The pair tumble toward the side exit. Dr. Rho clutches a tal briefcase tightly.
DR. RHO:
“My samples! They contain the only recorded antibodies!”
JASON:
“Then move it or die with them!”
They blast the side hatch open and spill into the storm outside.
EXT. FENCELINE — NIGHT
Rain pours like bullets. Alarms wail in the distance as automated turrets fire blindly into the dark. The quarantine zone is falling. Jason, Lena, and Dr. Rho sprint past panicked soldiers, bodies, and flaming barricades.
LENA (gasping):
“Where the hell do we go now?!”
DR. RHO:
“Sector 6. There’s an ergency lab. If I can stabilize the antigen—”
A truck explodes behind them, sending the infected scattering in burning pieces. Jason pulls Lena into cover behind a flipped Humvee.
JASON:
“Screw protocols. We need to survive first.”
He looks at Dr. Rho.
JASON (cont’d):
“You better be worth the blood we’re about to spill.”
Dr. Rho nods, holding the case close like it’s sacred.
FADE TO BLACK.
[STATIC TRANSITION — SURVEILLANCE AUDIO]:
“Quarantine Zone Epsilon-4 has been compromised. Full collapse. Initiate Contingency Directive: BURN CLEAN.”
