The silver–starlit path led them into a corridor that felt wider than any they had walked before, though no walls could be seen. The space stretched endlessly, soft light drifting upward like floating dust motes caught in moonlight. It should have felt peaceful—restful, even.

It didn’t.

Marra’s shoulders tightened. “Sothing’s following us.”

Tovin spun around. “Please don’t say it’s more mirror things.”

Erian didn’t answer. He felt it too—a presence behind them, but every ti he turned, there was nothing except the faint shimr of starlight fading into the distance.

The Weave trembled uneasily, its whisper distant and thin:

“The reflection that does not belong... walks with you.”

Tovin blanched. “Nope. Absolutely not. I’m not traveling with a ghost-.”

But Marra shook her head. “It didn’t sound like it’s one of us.”

The corridor ended abruptly at a stone archway carved with shimring runes. At its center floated a soft sphere of blue light pulsing like a heartbeat.

Erian stepped closer. “A mory core...”

Before he could touch it, the air behind them cracked like splitting glass.

The three spun.

A figure erged from the starlit haze—walking with the sa calm, steady rhythm as Erian.

But it was not Erian.

Not exactly.

Its form was built from violet fla and shadow, shaped like a person wearing Erian’s silhouette, but its eyes were hollow voids lit with the faintest ember of purple light.

Tovin whispered, “Is that... one of the echoes from the chamber?”

Erian shook his head slowly. “No. I confronted mine. It dissolved.”

The shadow-Erian smiled.

Not cruelly.

Not kindly.

Just... knowingly.

“Not all echoes are born from fear.”

Marra drew her daggers. “What are you then?”

The echo tilted its head.

“What you buried.”

The Weave stirred violently, threads crackling through the air.

“The Echo of Intent,” it whispered.

“The thought that was never spoken... but acted.”

Erian’s heartbeat stuttered.

Tovin blinked. “Wait, so it’s like... a mory of sothing he ant to do?”

Marra stepped closer to Erian. “What did you intend that was so strong it created this?”

Erian’s silence answered for him.

The echo stepped forward, and the starlit floor rippled under its feet like water.

“You wanted to leave them.”

Marra froze.

Erian shut his eyes.

“After the first fracture... after you felt the Weave tearing you apart.”

“You thought: I should go alone. They’ll be safer.”

The words hung like a blade suspended over their small trio.

Marra’s jaw tightened.

Tovin swallowed. “...Did you?”

Erian opened his eyes. “I had the thought. A mont of it. But I didn’t act on it.”

The echo extended a hand—its form flickering with dying violet fla.

“Intent shapes the Weave as deeply as choice.”

The air trembled around them, threads distorting.

“Deny ,” the echo whispered, “and I will beco what you fear.”

“Accept ... and I will beco what you need.”

Marra’s hand hovered near Erian’s arm, not touching, but close enough to steady.

Erian stepped forward.

“Then I accept you,” he said quietly. “I accept that I was afraid. I accept that a part of wanted to run. But I didn’t. I chose to stay. And I choose it again.”

The echo paused.

The violet fla around it softened—brightened—until the shadow-body dissolved into a gentle swirl of purple-blue motes.

A final whisper lingered:

“Then I walk with you... in truth.”

The motes drifted into Erian’s chest, sinking beneath his skin. He inhaled sharply—the air seed clearer afterward.

Tovin exhaled in relief. “Okay. That was terrifying. But less stabby than expected.”

Marra gave Erian a long, searching look. “Next ti you get an idea like that... tell us.”

He nodded. “I will.”

The blue mory core pulsed brighter, as if approving.

The path ahead unfolded in radiant gold.

And this ti, they stepped forward together—every intent aligned.
