The last Forgotten knelt in the softening soil, its form flickering between silhouettes—sotis solid, sotis unraveling into strands of unchosen possibility. It trembled, not in rage like the others, but in uncertainty. Its edges no longer bled corruption; instead, they shimred with faint silver, as if the newborn world itself were trying to shape it gently.

The Root floated forward, its gray thread pulsing weakly.

Marra steadied it with a careful hand. “Easy... you’ve done enough.”

Erian stepped toward the kneeling being. The Dreamfire’s mory dimd, shifting to a soft violet glow as he lowered the blade.

Tovin whispered, “It’s... scared.”

Marra nodded. “It doesn’t know what it is. Or what it can be.”

The Forgotten lifted its head. For a mont, it took on Erian’s face. Then Marra’s. Then Tovin’s. Then a face none of them recognized—soft features, curious eyes, young.

Its voice cracked like thin glass.

“You chose a world...

so what am I?”

Erian knelt in front of it, eting its flickering gaze. “You’re the first to ask that question in this world. That makes you more real than any thread we rejected.”

The figure trembled, reaching for its own hands as if unsure they belonged to it.

Tovin stepped closer. “The others lashed out because they were shaped by endings. But you... you waited.”

Marra sheathed her blades slowly. “That’s choice. That’s will.”

The newborn sky pulsed with soft light, as if leaning in to witness the mont. Rivers stilled. Mountains humd faintly. The First World was listening.

Erian extended his hand. “You can beco part of this world—not because you were chosen... but because you chose to remain.”

The Forgotten reached out. Its hand flickered, but did not vanish. Threads of silver and gray intertwined around its fingers.

The mont their hands touched, a surge of warm light rippled across the landscape. Grass brightened. Forests steadied. The shadow-scars left by the corrupted Forgotten lted into shimring pools that were absorbed by the soil.

The Root glowed brighter, stabilizing.

The being gasped.

Its form shifted—no longer glitching violently, but flowing softly, choosing shape rather than collapsing into it. The outline solidified into a young humanoid form—slender, androgynous, eyes bright like fresh starlight.

It looked down at its now-steady hands. “I... am?”

Erian smiled softly. “Yes. You are.”

Marra crossed her arms, though her eyes softened. “You’ll need a na.”

The being blinked. “A... na?”

Tovin grinned. “Yeah. Sothing to call you other than ‘Possibility Thing Number Seventy.’”

Marra elbowed him.

The being closed its eyes, and threads of silver swirled around its chest. It spoke quietly.

“Call Lun.”

The na echoed through the land like a seed taking root.

Erian nodded. “Welco, Lun. You are the First Inhabitant of the First World.”

Lun looked up at the trembling star in the sky, then back at the three travelers.

“Will there be more like ?”

Erian exchanged a look with Marra and Tovin.

“There will be,” he said. “Because now the world knows how to dream.”

A tremor rolled across the horizon—gentle, but deliberate.

Marra stiffened. “The First World is changing again.”

Tovin swallowed. “Uh... in a good way, right?”

Erian raised the Dreamfire, eyes narrowing.

“Let’s find out.”
