Pain ca first.

Sharp, grounding, undeniable.

Damon sucked in air like he’d forgotten how lungs worked, coughing as reality slamd back into him with brutal force. Stone scraped his palms. Cold wind tore at his skin. Gravity—real gravity—pressed him down.

“DAMON!”

Lira crashed into him, her arms wrapping tight around his shoulders before he could even focus. Her forehead pressed against his chest as if she needed proof his heart was actually beating.

“You idiot,” she whispered, voice breaking. “You absolute, stubborn—”

He laughed hoarsely, fingers curling into her jacket. “Miss ?”

She hit him—hard—then clutched him again, shaking. “Don’t ever do that again.”

Shadow’s weight slamd into Damon’s side next, the wolf whining low and frantic, nose shoved against Damon’s throat like he was counting breaths. Ember circled them once before settling close, her body rigid, eyes never leaving the void behind them.

The corridor was gone.

In its place hovered fragnts of stone drifting like debris after an explosion. And beyond them—

The Origin writhed.

It was no longer stable. The once-perfect vortex twisted erratically, its surface rippling with violent distortions. Fractures of blinding light pulsed through it like veins under tearing skin.

Perfect Damon stood near the edge of a floating slab, staring at the broken vortex in disbelief.

“What did you do?” he demanded.

Damon slowly pushed himself upright, every muscle screaming. “I refused.”

The double’s form flickered violently now, glitches tearing through his body with each pulse from the Origin. “You contaminated it,” he snarled. “It was absolute. It corrected everything!”

“Yeah,” Damon said quietly. “And it erased everyone who didn’t fit.”

The Origin convulsed.

A deafening crack echoed across the void as a massive fissure split through its core. From within poured distorted echoes—failed futures, abandoned selves, screaming fragnts of erased lives spilling outward like a storm unleashed.

Lira’s eyes widened. “Damon... it’s breaking.”

“No,” Perfect Damon whispered. “It’s dying.”

The double staggered, clutching his chest as more fractures tore through him. “I am bound to it,” he gasped. “If it collapses—”

“You collapse with it,” Damon finished.

The double looked at him then—not with rage, but fear.

For the first ti, he looked human.

“You could still fix this,” he pleaded. “Let replace you. Let stabilize the fracture. I can save everything.”

Damon stepped forward.

Shadow growled low. Ember rose, muscles tense.

Damon shook his head. “You don’t save a world by erasing the people who live in it.”

The Origin scread—a sound like reality tearing in half.

Chunks of the void began folding inward, collapsing toward the vortex’s fractured heart.

Lira grabbed Damon’s hand. “We need to go—NOW!”

Perfect Damon reached out—but the Origin’s pull yanked him backward, his body unraveling into shards of light and shadow.

“No—!” he scread as he was dragged screaming into the collapsing core.

Then—

Silence.

The Origin imploded in a blinding flash.

The void folded in on itself.

And the world fell.

Damon felt the ground vanish beneath him as everything went white—

And then—

Darkness.

Real darkness.

With wind.

And rain.

And the distant sound of howling wolves echoing through ruined streets.
