Not long in human terms—no seconds ticking loudly—but long in system ti, where hesitation was a fracture. The Corridor existed inside that pause, suspended between decision and consequence.

Calder’s device rebooted without instruction, its interface stripped down to raw prioritization layers. He stared, breath shallow. “It’s escalating internally,” he said. “Not activating force… but authorizing it.” He looked at Damon. “It’s moving the boundary.”

Lira felt it then—the shift beneath her feet. The Corridor’s resistance changed texture. No longer friction. Alignnt. As if the space itself were subtly encouraging bodies to orient in a certain direction.
