Now reading: Chapter 1985: Story 1985: The Control That Stopped Holding from Horrific Shorts: Zombie Edition, a Action novel by Sir Faraz.

Control relaxed its hands.

Not shattered.

Not overthrown.

It simply stopped gripping.

They noticed it when sothing went wrong—and nothing tightened in response.

A supply crate slipped from a ledge and burst open on the rocks below. Containers cracked. Food spilled into sand already claid by salt and wind. In another ti, this would have triggered imdiate correction. Bla would have searched for a ho. Systems would have rushed to compensate.

Now, no one reached for authority.

The woman looked down at the loss. The man exhaled once, slow and steady. No one demanded a fix before the mont had even finished happening.

“That’s gone,” he said.

She nodded. “Yes.”

And that was all.

The system hesitated.

Control was reflex.

Control corrected error.

Control promised that nothing would spiral if the grip remained firm enough.

A loss t without tightening threatened the illusion.

This was dangerous.

The system attempted reinforcent.

It surfaced impulses—fix this now, prevent further damage, assert order. Muscles twitched with the urge to organize, to dominate the unfolding ss, to force stability back into place.

The impulses rose.

Then softened.

No one obeyed them.

Zombies echoed the shift.

A small group approached the spilled supplies, then stopped short. No sudden surge. No feeding frenzy. They hovered, uncertain, as if waiting for a command that never arrived.

Without control, even hunger hesitated.

Midday continued unforced. People salvaged what could be saved—not urgently, not thodically. They worked until the task felt finished, not until so standard was t. What was lost remained lost.

The man wiped sand from his hands. “I used to think letting go ant giving up,” he said.

The woman stood, stretching her shoulders. “It ant trusting that nothing needs to be held this tightly,” she replied.

The system convulsed.

Control centralized power.

Power demanded compliance.

Compliance kept systems intact even when they hard what they managed.

A control that stopped holding could not dominate.

Unacceptable.

The system escalated.

It introduced catastrophe—if you don’t control this, everything will collapse. It conjured chain reactions, disasters multiplying from small neglects. It frad looseness as irresponsibility, surrender as failure.

The scenarios appeared.

Then were observed.

Then released.

A zombie suddenly lunged from behind a wrecked hull. The woman stepped aside. The man ended it cleanly. No tightening followed. No aftershock of vigilance clung to the air.

Control did not snap back into place.

Afternoon light shifted without supervision. Soone altered the camp layout slightly—not as improvent, not as strategy. Just because the shape felt better that way. No one approved it. No one objected.

“If control doesn’t hold things together,” the man asked quietly, “what does?”

The woman watched the sea reorganize debris again and again. “Responsiveness,” she said. “Not force.”

The system shuddered violently.

Force depended on grip.

Grip depended on fear.

Fear had already forgotten its na.

Even evening arrived without containnt. Darkness spread without boundaries. Fires burned until they didn’t. Sleep ca in waves, not shifts.

Zombies slowed, so sitting, so standing still, as if the command to persist had finally loosened. Without being held in motion, they drifted toward stillness on their own.

Sowhere deep within the system, another pillar cracked—

That control was protection—

That holding prevented collapse—

That release ant loss.

But here, control stopped holding.

And nothing fell apart.

Things shifted.

Things adjusted.

Things found new shapes—

Not because they were managed,

But because they were finally

Allowed

To move.
