The first collapse wasn't dramatic.

No screaming.

No betrayal.

Just a body hitting ash.

Tomas—broad-shouldered, quiet, dependable—crumpled beside the water trench at midday. Not dead.

Just empty.

Eron reached him first, checking pulse. "Severe dehydration. Caloric deficit compounding."

Lyra scanned the ridge instinctively.

Distant silhouettes.

Still.

Watching.

Kael felt the shift ripple through camp like a silent aftershock.

This was the mont the system had been modeling.

Not violence.

Failure.

They carried Tomas into shade. Rations were recalculated again—thinner this ti. A decision hung unspoken in the air:

Redistribute equally—

Or prioritize strength?

Mara broke the silence. "If you don't allocate efficiently, more will fall."

Lyra's voice cut sharp. "You an choose who weakens."

"I an prevent cascade failure."

The words tasted chanical.

Kael stepped forward, hands steady despite the tremor in his arms.

He signed slowly.

NO HIERARCHY.

Eron hesitated. "Kael… if he doesn't recover—"

NO HIERARCHY, Kael signed again.

Because once value becos weighted—

Humanity becos negotiable.

The ridge shifted slightly.

Not advancing.

But tightening angle toward the trench.

They were observing redistribution.

asuring moral elasticity.

By evening, Tomas regained consciousness—but barely. Lips cracked. Eyes unfocused.

"I can walk," he lied weakly.

Lyra crouched beside him. "You don't have to."

But that was the fear.

That soon—

They would.

Night fell heavy.

The water flow dropped again.

Not dramatically.

Precisely.

A young survivor approached Kael under cover of darkness.

"If we send two people east quietly," she whispered, "just to trade compliance for supplies… no one has to know."

There it was.

The breaking variable.

Not rebellion against the ridge—

Rebellion against endurance.

Kael studied her hollow eyes.

Then signed gently.

THEY WANT QUIET FRACTURES.

She looked away.

Because she knew it was true.

Across camp, whispers spread.

Not of escape.

Of exceptions.

Maybe one integration wouldn't matter.

Maybe a temporary alignnt.

Maybe survival required flexibility.

Mara stood apart, torn between belief and doubt. "They showed projections," she said quietly to Kael. "Collapse probabilities increase sharply after this stage."

He nodded.

Of course they did.

Because this was the stage designed to break cohesion.

At dawn, the ridge executed its cleanest maneuver yet.

A crate appeared on the eastern road.

Visible.

Unattended.

Water containers stacked neatly beside it.

No zombies nearby.

No escort.

Just relief.

Lyra saw it first. "They're baiting rcy."

Eron swallowed. "If we ignore that, we lose people internally."

If they accept—

They validate dependence.

The entire camp stared at the distant supplies glowing faintly in morning haze.

No one moved.

The ridge remained distant.

Patient.

Watching choice pressure peak.

Kael walked to the correction stone one final ti and carved:

STARVATION IS A LANGUAGE.

Then beneath it—

WE REFUSE TO ANSWER.

He turned toward the camp.

Toward Tomas.

Toward the road.

The fracture point had arrived.

Not in bodies falling—

But in minds calculating surrender.

The crate waited.

Water gleaming in pale light.

And for the first ti—
