The pillars did not attack.

They resonated.

A low harmonic vibration rolled across the cracked earth at dusk, subtle but deliberate. Lava fissures pulsed in synchronized intervals, casting muted gold light across the ruined colony.

Kael felt the rhythm in his ribs.

Lyra felt it in her teeth.

Mara watched her instrunts flicker. “Frequency modulation,” she murmured. “They’re not increasing force. They’re transmitting pattern.”

The Singularity Walker stood unmoving at the colony periter, fractures still glowing faintly along its obsidian fra. Its core responded to the distant vibration with unstable pulses.

Not defensive.

Responsive.

Beyond the ridge line, the observers returned.

But they were different now.

They moved in coordinated spirals, fragnts of accumulated flesh arranging themselves into geotric rings. Not titans — not yet.

Fraworks.

“Echo construction,” Mara whispered.

Kael narrowed his eyes. “They’re copying the lattice.”

The spiraling fragnts interlocked, forming crude support arches across open ground. Their structure was imperfect — uneven — but functional.

A section of unstable earth sagged beneath one ring.

Instead of collapsing, the ring redistributed mass.

It held.

Lyra exhaled slowly. “They’re learning reinforcent.”

“Yes,” Mara replied, unease creeping into her voice. “But not to preserve us.”

The harmonic frequency shifted.

Higher.

Sharper.

The Walker’s fractures brightened in response.

Across the ridge, the fragnt rings began amplifying vibration through their crude fraworks. The sound traveled through stone, into the colony’s foundations.

Walls trembled — not from impact.

From resonance.

Kael understood first.

“They’re not trying to crush us,” he said. “They’re trying to make us collapse ourselves.”

The vibration matched the structural weaknesses left from Episode 82’s shear event. Microfractures reawakened. Dust sifted from ceilings.

The colony groaned as if rembering how it broke.

The Walker moved.

Not forward.

Downward.

It pressed both hands against the earth.

White light flowed not upward into lattice —

But downward into bedrock.

Counter-frequency.

Its core pulsed in opposition to the pillars’ harmonic broadcast.

Two architectures of sound collided beneath the surface.

The ground stilled — briefly.

Across the ridge, the fragnt rings destabilized under interference. So collapsed inward, dissolving into twitching masses.

But others adapted.

They altered spacing.

Shifted alignnt.

The harmonic rose again — closer to the Walker’s counter-pattern.

“They’re tuning to it,” Mara breathed.

Lyra stepped beside Kael, twin blades glinting in sepia light. “This isn’t brute force anymore.”

“No,” he replied. “It’s dialogue.”

The Walker’s core flared brighter than it had since the titan breach. Fractures along its surface widened under strain.

It was no longer just defending structure.

It was defining it.

The harmonic clash intensified, dust spiraling upward between colony and ridge like a rising curtain.

Then —

Silence.

The pillars ceased vibration.

The fragnt rings withdrew, lting back into scattered flesh forms.

The earth settled.

For now.

The Walker remained kneeling, hands pressed to stone, core dim but intact.

It had matched their echo.

And survived it.

Kael looked toward the horizon, where the titans waited beyond sight.

“They tested whether mory could be weaponized,” he said quietly.

Lyra sheathed one blade.

“And?”

Kael watched the Walker rise slowly, fractures glowing like fault lines across a continent.

“It can,” he answered.

The pillars resud their low hum — different now.

asured.

Curious.

The war had shifted again.

Not of bodies.

Not of weight.

But of design.

Two architectures facing one another across ash and ruin.

Each learning how the other chose to stand.
