The building shook like it was being torn apart.
Elena Voss struggled to hold the injured creature as another deafening impact struck the outside wall. Dust poured from the ceiling, and pieces of concrete crashed onto the basent floor.
Above them, sothing massive scraped across the building’s exterior.
The hunter had arrived.
The giant red-eyed creature slowly turned toward the stairwell, its long limbs unfolding as more of the red-eyed beings crawled out from the darkness behind it.
They moved like shadows with bones.
Silent.
Watching.
Waiting.
Elena tightened her grip around the creature that had protected her for days.
“Stay with ,” she whispered.
Its breathing was shallow.
“Hurts,” it growled weakly.
“I know.”
Another thunderous roar exploded from outside the building.
The basent lights flickered once before dying completely.
Now the only illumination ca from the glowing red eyes filling the room... and the strange symbol burning beneath Elena’s skin.
The crooked eye mark on her chest pulsed like a second heartbeat.
The giant creature noticed.
“...marked grows stronger,” it rumbled.
Elena backed away slowly.
“What does the mark want from ?”
The creature under the bed coughed.
“Control,” it whispered.
Before Elena could ask more, the basent ceiling suddenly cracked open.
A massive claw burst through the concrete.
Stone shattered.
tal pipes ripped apart like paper.
The claw was enormous—bigger than Elena’s entire body. Thick black scales covered it, and each talon curved like a hooked blade.
The hunter had found them.
A deafening roar followed as the creature outside tore a huge hole through the building wall.
Daylight poured into the basent.
Elena finally saw it.
The hunter towered above the street outside the broken wall, its colossal body filling the skyline. Its jaws were wide enough to swallow a truck, and its burning orange eyes glared directly into the basent.
The red-eyed giant beside Elena snarled.
“...foolish beast...”
The hunter roared again and lunged forward, smashing through the rest of the wall.
Concrete exploded outward as the two monsters finally faced each other.
The basent was suddenly far too small for either of them.
The red-eyed giant stepped forward first.
“...mine,” it growled, pointing toward Elena.
The hunter’s gaze shifted to her.
It paused.
Then it sniffed the air.
Its eyes narrowed.
The mark on Elena’s chest burned hotter.
The hunter let out a deep, rumbling growl.
Almost... confused.
Behind Elena, the injured guardian creature whispered urgently.
“Elena... mark makes them fight...”
She stared at the two titanic monsters facing each other.
“You an... ?”
“Yes.”
The red-eyed giant suddenly lunged.
Its long arms slamd into the hunter’s skull with trendous force.
The impact shook the entire street.
The hunter roared in fury and snapped its massive jaws, biting deep into the giant’s shoulder.
Both creatures howled.
Cars were crushed beneath their feet.
Buildings cracked.
The city itself seed to tremble.
The war had begun.
Inside the collapsing basent, Elena crouched beside her wounded protector, watching two ancient monsters tear each other apart.
The crooked eye symbol on her chest pulsed brighter.
And sowhere deep inside her mind...
A whisper echoed.
Choose.
Elena’s breathing slowed.
Her eyes widened in horror.
Because the mark wasn’t just calling monsters.
It was asking her to decide which one would win.
