The mountain was dying around them.
Steel scread beneath impossible pressure while silver tendrils tore through the upper levels of Site Zero like roots splitting open a grave. Snow and ash spiraled downward through ruptured ceilings as the Harvester descended closer to the gateway chamber below.
And beneath it all—
The Sleeper watched Maya.
Its colossal eye glowed through the shattered earth beneath the corridor, ancient spirals moving slowly across its endless black surface. The sheer size of the being below Site Zero defied reason. Maya could feel its presence pressing against reality itself.
Yet inside that vast mind—
There was no hunger.
Only exhaustion.
Little Daughter of Earth...
The Sleeper’s voice echoed softly through her thoughts.
The gate must close.
Maya stared down into the abyss beneath the broken floor.
“And if I help you?”
Images answered instantly.
The gateway sealing forever.
The Harvester cut off from Earth.
The silver infection collapsing across the planet like a dying nervous system.
Humanity surviving.
But then ca the final image.
Maya herself standing alone inside endless darkness while the gateway closed around her forever.
Selena realized it imdiately.

Her voice cracked.

The Warden remained motionless beside the broken corridor.
The bridge binds both realms, it said quietly. Closure requires sacrifice.
Above them, the Harvester scread loud enough to shake the mountain apart.
The ceiling exploded.
A colossal silver tendril smashed downward into the corridor, larger than a train and covered in thousands of blinking eyes. Hunters poured after it shrieking through layered human voices.
“THE BRIDGE BELONGS TO US!”
Selena opened fire instantly.
Ethan staggered forward beside her despite the black-and-silver veins twisting across his body.
“No!” he scread.
The signal inside him erupted outward violently.
Silver light exploded through the corridor, halting the hunters montarily. Ethan collapsed to his knees coughing blood as the Harvester’s voices roared through him.
“They’re trying to take control!”
The Warden moved.
Black spirals burst outward from its body in complete silence. Every hunter touching the energy disintegrated instantly into drifting ash.
But more kept coming.
Too many.
ARCHON’s voice crackled desperately through failing speakers.
“Orbital entity reaching gateway chamber in two minutes.”
The Sleeper’s enormous eye narrowed beneath the abyss.
Maya Kane.
For the first ti, she felt emotion from it.
Not command.
Not manipulation.
Hope.
You were created to unite what cannot coexist.
Maya’s hands trembled.
BLACKTHORN had engineered her for the Harvester.
But humanity had never understood the true purpose of the Bridge.
Not surrender.

Another impact shook the facility violently.
The Harvester itself was entering the mountain now.
Silver flesh spread across the ceiling while gigantic tendrils wrapped around the gateway chamber below. Through the collapsing structure Maya glimpsed fragnts of its true body descending toward the Sleeper beneath the earth.
Two ancient gods preparing to collide.
And humanity caught between extinction and survival.
Selena grabbed Maya desperately.
“You don’t owe them your life!”
Maya looked at her friend.
Then at Ethan bleeding onto the floor.
Then at the burning world displayed across the broken monitors surrounding them.
Cities falling.
Oceans turning silver.
Earth dying.
She finally understood.
The Harvesters consud worlds.
The Wardens imprisoned them.
And humanity—
Humanity was the first species capable of choosing sothing different.
Maya stepped toward the abyss.
The silver tendrils imdiately reacted, surging toward her.
“BRIDGE!” the Harvester roared through every hunter voice at once.
The Sleeper rose higher beneath the chamber.
Ancient black spirals illuminated the darkness as its colossal form awakened fully for the first ti in millions of years.
Then Maya spread her arms toward both horrors.
And the gateway beneath Site Zero opened completely.
