The sun dipped below the horizon, casting an orange glow over the desolate city ruins. Damien Rook stood on a crumbling rooftop, gazing at the horde of zombies shambling aimlessly through the streets below. His leather jacket was battered, his shotgun slung over his back, and his trusty machete glead faintly in the dying light. He was tired but resolute—each passing day brought him closer to his ultimate goal: the Zombie King's stronghold.

This ti, Damien wasn't alone. Beside him stood Clara, a sharp-shooter with piercing green eyes and an unyielding spirit. They had t weeks ago in a skirmish with a rogue survivor gang, and though trust was hard-earned in the apocalypse, their bond had grown steadily. Clara, ard with her sniper rifle, had proven invaluable in thinning out the undead when Damien's brute force fell short.

"Tomorrow, we head for the bridge," Damien said, breaking the silence.

Clara nodded, adjusting her rifle. "If we can take out the sentries there, we'll have a clear path to the King's fortress."

Damien's fists clenched. "Good. Let him know. I want him to see the storm coming."

As they strategized, a faint noise outside caught Damien's attention. A shuffle, barely audible, but enough to make him grab his machete. He gestured for Clara to take cover, then crept toward the barricaded window. Peering through a crack, he saw movent—three figures, moving with eerie precision.

"They're not walkers," he whispered.

Clara positioned herself at another window, her rifle ready. "Survivors?"

"Or sothing worse."

Before Damien could decide, the figures charged. They weren't ordinary zombies—they moved faster, their eyes glowing faintly in the dark. Intelligent infected. Damien kicked the barricade aside and lunged forward, his machete slicing cleanly through the first attacker's neck. Clara's rifle cracked twice, dropping the other two.

The fight was over in seconds, but the ssage was clear. The King was upping his ga. Continue reading on My Virtual Library Empire

"Looks like he's sending us a welcoming committee," Clara said, reloading her rifle.

Damien wiped the blood from his blade. "Then we'll send him a reply."

As the night deepened, they reinforced their defenses and prepared for the journey ahead. Damien felt the weight of the battles to co, but he also felt a spark of hope. The King's reign of terror was nearing its end—and Damien Rook would make sure of it.
