The roar echoed through the air, reverberating off the crumbling walls of the stronghold. Zara's heart pounded as the massive figure stepped into view, its silhouette illuminated by the flickering flas of the detonated charges. Standing at nearly eight feet tall, the creature was a grotesque fusion of decayed flesh and jagged armor. Its eyes glowed an unnatural red, and its clawed hands dragged a rusted steel chain.
"Rowan," Zara muttered, her voice low but sharp, "keep moving. We can't let it corner us."
Rowan tightened his grip on his rifle, his eyes fixed on the monstrosity. "What the hell is that thing? One of the King's experints?"
"Most likely," Zara replied, backing into a defensive position. "Whatever it is, it's here to stop us."
The creature let out another deafening roar, then charged forward with terrifying speed. Zara dove to the side, narrowly avoiding a swipe of its massive claws. The impact of its attack sent shards of tal flying, and the ground trembled beneath her.
Rowan fired a volley of shots, each one hitting its mark, but the beast barely flinched. It turned its glowing gaze toward him, snarling as if the bullets were nothing more than an annoyance.

"Rowan, fall back!" Zara yelled, grabbing a flash grenade from her belt. "We can't take it head-on."
As the creature lunged toward Rowan, Zara hurled the grenade, the bright flash montarily disorienting the monster. She used the opportunity to pull Rowan behind cover, her mind racing for a plan.
"Bullets won't cut it," she said, her voice steady despite the chaos. "We need to outsmart it. Draw it into a trap."
Rowan nodded, wiping sweat from his brow. "What kind of trap?"
"Explosives," Zara said, glancing at the remaining charges on her belt. "If we can lure it to the central tower, we can bring the whole structure down on it."
The beast recovered from the flash, shaking its massive head before letting out another guttural roar. It began to scan the area, its glowing eyes narrowing as it locked onto their position.
"Go!" Zara commanded, pushing Rowan toward the tower. "I'll distract it."
"Zara, you can't—"
"Just move!" she barked, drawing her pistol and stepping into the open.
She fired a series of shots, aiming for the creature's head. It roared in fury, charging at her with reckless abandon. Zara darted between piles of debris, her movents calculated and precise. She could feel the ground tremble with each of its steps, the sheer force of its pursuit sending shivers down her spine.
Rowan reached the tower and began setting the charges, his hands trembling as he worked quickly. Zara, anwhile, led the beast closer, her breaths shallow but controlled.
"Co on," she muttered under her breath. "Just a little farther…"
When the creature was directly beneath the tower, Zara sprinted toward Rowan, shouting, "Now!"
Rowan detonated the charges, the explosion ripping through the air. The tower collapsed in a cascade of rubble and fire, engulfing the beast in a cloud of dust and debris.
As the dust settled, Zara and Rowan stood in silence, their eyes fixed on the wreckage.
"Think that did it?" Rowan asked, his voice shaky.
Zara holstered her pistol, her gaze unwavering. "For now. But we're not out of this yet."
