To his left, Officer Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett had already taken position on the roof of an abandoned car. Through the scope of her sniper rifle, she scanned the dimly lit street, searching for any signs of movent. Her finger hovered near the trigger, her breathing steady.
"Two walkers, east side," Riley murmured into her comms. "No civilians in sight. Permission to engage?"
"Granted," Kane responded. A muffled pop from Riley's silenced rifle followed, and two zombies crumpled to the ground.
anwhile, Sergeant Jenna "Blaze" Hart worked thodically at the rear of the convoy. Her flathrower hissed as it released a controlled burst of fire, torching a small horde that had gathered near a garage. The flas lit up the night, casting twisted shadows on the walls of the nearby houses.
"Clear on my side," Jenna reported, stepping over the charred remains of the undead.
Officer Derek "Shield" Coleman advanced cautiously, his riot shield raised. A snarling zombie lunged at him from a dark alley, but the reinforced barrier held firm. With a swift swing of his baton, Derek dispatched the creature, its body crumpling at his feet.
"Nothing we can't handle," Derek quipped, his voice steady despite the tension.
Detective Lila "Huntress" Navarro darted through the shadows, her twin pistols at the ready. Her task was to scout ahead and locate the source of the outbreak in this sector. She found what she was looking for—a cluster of zombies huddled around a broken-down ambulance. Among them was a grotesque creature far larger and faster than the others.
"We've got a brute," Lila reported, her voice calm but urgent. "Sending coordinates now."
Kane acknowledged the report, rallying the team. "Alright, ZETU, we've got a big one. Focus fire and take it down before it breaches the periter."
As the team converged, Tech Specialist Ethan "Brain" O'Connor monitored the scene from the safety of the command vehicle. His drone provided a bird's-eye view of the battlefield, allowing him to guide the team's movents.
The brute roared as ZETU opened fire, bullets tearing through its rotting flesh. Finally, a well-placed incendiary round from Jenna's flathrower ended the threat, its massive body collapsing in a fiery heap.
"Sector 12 is clear," Kane announced. "Good work, team. Let's move out. There's more work to do."
As the team regrouped, the distant moans of the undead reminded them that their mission was far from over. Night had fallen, and the battle for the city had just begun.
