Rain poured relentlessly as thunder rolled across the cursed graveyard, casting fleeting shadows over broken tombstones and flooded dirt paths. The eerie glow of lightning illuminated a figure crawling out of a fresh grave, its skeletal grin and mud-caked claws reaching for the ground above.
Captain Marcus Kane tightened his grip on his shotgun, his voice cutting through the comms. "ZETU, keep your eyes open. Sothing's not right here."
The team had been sent to investigate reports of unusual zombie activity in the cetery on the outskirts of the city. The area was known for its ancient crypts and unmarked graves—an ideal breeding ground for the infected.
"Captain, movent to your right," Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett whispered, her sniper rifle fixed on the tree line.
Marcus turned, scanning the darkness as raindrops obscured his vision. "I see it," he muttered. "Huntress, take point. Blaze, watch our six."
Lila "Huntress" Navarro moved silently through the mud, her pistols drawn and ready. Every step seed to stir the ground, as if the earth itself was restless. She paused at a toppled mausoleum, her sharp eyes catching the faint glow of sothing pulsing beneath the rubble.
"Captain," she called softly. "I've got an energy signature here. Looks like another Hive node."
Marcus cursed under his breath. "Brain, what's the chance this place is sitting on a full-blown Hive?"
Ethan "Brain" O'Connor's voice crackled over the comms. "High. These older burial grounds are perfect for Hive activity. That pulse you're seeing? It's probably waking everything buried there."
As if on cue, the ground around them began to shift. Decayed hands burst from the wet soil, dragging rotted bodies into the stormy night. The team watched in horror as more zombies erged, their hollow eyes glowing faintly in the rain.
"Shield, hold the line!" Marcus barked.
Derek "Shield" Coleman planted his riot shield firmly in the mud, deflecting a lunging zombie with a bone-crushing shove. Jenna "Blaze" Hart ignited her flathrower, the flas cutting through the horde like a beacon in the storm.
"Captain, we've got company!" Jenna shouted, her voice strained. "Lots of it!"
Lightning struck a nearby gravestone, montarily blinding the team. When their vision cleared, a massive figure lood before them. Its decayed body was wrapped in tattered priestly robes, and its glowing staff pulsed with dark energy.
"Is that a zombie priest?" Riley muttered, aiming her rifle.
The figure raised its staff, and the crawling zombies surged forward with unnatural speed.
"It's controlling them!" Ethan yelled. "Take it out!"
"Easier said than done," Marcus growled, blasting a zombie off Lila's back. "Huntress, cover . Blaze, light that thing up!"
Jenna unleashed a torrent of fire, but the priest raised its staff, creating a barrier of swirling energy. The flas dissipated before reaching their target.
"Brain, we need a weakness!" Marcus shouted.
"Working on it!" Ethan replied. "But that staff—it's the key. Break it, and the control should collapse."
Marcus nodded. "Shield, cover . Huntress, aim for the staff. Quick Shot, keep the horde off us!"
As the team fought their way forward, Marcus locked eyes with the undead priest. Rain dripped from his helt as he raised his shotgun, determined to end the nightmare.
