The ZETU team had barely escaped the horrors of the farmhouse when they received an urgent distress signal from a manor deep in the countryside. The building was perched atop a hill, silhouetted against a blood-red sky, its Gothic spires clawing at the heavens. Lightning forked across the darkening clouds, illuminating the long-abandoned structure.
"This place makes the farmhouse look like a picnic," muttered Riley Bennett, adjusting her sniper rifle as the team approached.
Captain Marcus Kane stepped forward, his voice calm but firm. "Stay sharp. Intel says this manor was used as a quarantine site during the initial outbreak. There could be survivors... or worse."
As they neared the gates, the team noticed the overgrown grounds littered with decaying bodies. So were half-buried in the dirt, as if clawing their way out of shallow graves. Derek Coleman tightened his grip on his riot shield, his eyes scanning for movent.
"The air's too still," Jenna Hart whispered, gripping her flathrower. "I don't like this."
Lila Navarro knelt to inspect one of the bodies. "These weren't just random victims. Look at the uniforms—they were quarantine staff. Whatever happened here, they didn't stand a chance."
Ethan O'Connor's drone buzzed overhead, its thermal sensors picking up faint heat signatures inside the manor. "We've got activity on the second floor," he reported. "Could be survivors, but it's hard to tell. The readings are erratic."
Marcus nodded. "Riley, cover the periter. The rest of us, we're going in."
The team pushed through the rusted gates and approached the manor's massive oak doors. Derek bashed them open with his shield, revealing a grand but decayed foyer. A massive chandelier hung precariously from the ceiling, its crystals coated in gri. The air was thick with the sll of mold and death.
"Split up," Marcus ordered. "Ethan, Jenna, and Lila, check the east wing. Derek, you're with in the west. Radio if you see anything."
As the team moved deeper into the manor, the walls seed to close in around them. The flickering light of their flashlights revealed faded portraits of long-dead residents, their hollow eyes seeming to follow every step.
In the east wing, Jenna's flathrower cast eerie shadows as the trio entered what appeared to be a dining hall. The long table was covered in rotting food and broken plates. Suddenly, a low, guttural growl echoed through the room.
"Contacts!" Lila hissed, drawing her pistols.
From the shadows erged zombified servants, their tattered uniforms clinging to decayed flesh. Their eyes glowed faintly, and their movents were unnervingly coordinated.
anwhile, in the west wing, Marcus and Derek discovered a hidden staircase leading to the basent. As they descended, the air grew colder, and an unnatural hum filled their ears. At the bottom, they found a massive iron door covered in strange symbols.
"This wasn't just a quarantine site," Marcus said grimly. "They were hiding sothing."
Before Derek could respond, the door began to creak open on its own, releasing a chilling howl that echoed through the manor.
