The cathedral's dim candlelight flickered as General Viktor "Bloodfang" Kruger ran his combat knife across his gloved fingers, feeling the cold steel press against his flesh. The war had carved deep scars into his soul, but this mont—this ritual—was a reminder of who he was. A soldier. A killer. A survivor.
The undead hordes outside clawed at the iron doors, their guttural moans echoing through the ruined sanctuary. Kruger exhaled slowly. There was no fear in his eyes. Only resolve.
"You hesitate, General."
The voice ca from the shadows. Dr. Sylvia "Plague Mistress" Voss stepped forward, her blood-red cloak billowing. Her golden eyes glead with amusent, though the scars on her face betrayed the horrors she had endured.
Kruger chuckled darkly, pressing the edge of the knife to his palm once more. "I don't hesitate," he growled. "I calculate."
Voss smirked, circling him like a predator sizing up its prey. "And yet, even you must wonder—how much of your humanity is left?"
Kruger's grip on the knife tightened. Humanity? That word ant nothing now.
A sudden crash shattered the tense air. The cathedral doors burst open, and a wave of undead spilled inside. Their rotting hands reached out, their eyes glowing with the unholy light of reanimation.
Kruger didn't flinch.
With a single motion, he lunged forward, slashing through the first creature's throat. The undead soldier collapsed, but more pressed in. Too many.
Voss whispered behind him. "Ti to choose, General. Are you still human?"
Kruger's lips curled into a snarl. "No. I'm sothing worse."
He drove his knife into his own forearm, letting his blood mix with the bio-serum that had been coursing through his veins since Wolfe's experints.
His muscles burned. His veins darkened. His vision sharpened.
The monstrous power within him awakened.
With inhuman speed, he tore through the undead, his knife flashing like a phantom's fang. Heads rolled, limbs were severed, and rotting corpses crumbled under his onslaught.
Voss watched with fascination as the blood-soaked General stood amidst the carnage, his breath ragged, his body trembling from the transformation.
"Remarkable," she murmured.
Kruger turned to her, his pale blue eyes now darkened with sothing… unnatural.
The war had changed him.
And now, he would change the war.
