Evelyn took a step back, analyzing the creature.

The creature tilted its head.
Then it charged.

Evelyn grabbed her before the creature could pull her into its jaws.

Leon rushed in, blade in hand, and severed the tongue with a clean strike.
The Devourer howled in rage, but it wasn’t done.
Instead of retreating, its body twitched, shuddered—then the severed tongue began to regenerate.

Evelyn’s blood ran cold.

“WE NEED TO GO!” Reaper barked, yanking Lucas up.

The monster let out a deafening screech, its claws raking against the ground as it writhed in agony.
But even as fire consud it, it was still moving.
Evelyn turned, gripping Mia.
“We can’t kill it.

They ran.
Through the ruined cityscape, past the bodies of the fallen.
Behind them, the burning Devourer stumbled—but it did not fall.
It watched them go.
And then, it began to change again.
