A Watcher lunged from the shadows, claws slicing through tal like paper.
Lucas barely dodged as the creature’s tongue lashed toward him, wrapping around his ankle.

The bullet pierced the tendril, black blood spraying as Lucas wrenched himself free.
But the damage was done.
The Watcher inhaled sharply, its exposed brain pulsing.
Then it… mimicked Lucas’ movent.
It had learned.
And it was faster now.
“We can’t win this fight,” Reaper growled, loading an incendiary round.
“We run.”
The Escape
The group tore through the ruined streets, weaving through abandoned cars and collapsed buildings.
Behind them, the Watchers moved like phantoms, their long limbs stretching unnaturally as they pursued.
Their hungry whispers slithered through the dark.
“Faster.
Run.
We see you.”
Evelyn stole a glance back—they weren’t even running at full speed.
They were toying with them.
A side alley appeared to their left.
“There!”
One by one, they slid into the shadows, their breath ragged.
For a mont, silence.

Leon’s blood went cold.
The Watcher was walking toward them, slow and deliberate.
It stopped just at the alley entrance, head tilting, sniffing the air.
Lucas gripped his knife, his voice barely audible.
“It knows we’re here.”
Evelyn swallowed.
“No.
It’s pretending it doesn’t.”
Testing them.
Watching.
Then, without warning, it spoke.
“Not yet.”
It turned and vanished into the black.
The group didn’t move for what felt like hours.
Finally, Samantha exhaled.
“What the hell does that an?”
Evelyn’s hands clenched.
They weren’t just prey anymore.
They were part of the ga.
