The Apex lowered its massive fra, its claws gouging into the concrete.
The air was thick with decay, and behind it, the Stalkers stood motionless, waiting.
It was their alpha.
And it was toying with them.
The Attack Begins
Reaper fired first.
A direct shot to the face.
The bullet ricocheted off its skull, barely leaving a mark.
It lunged.
Mia rolled to the side as razor-sharp claws tore through the pavent where she had just been standing.
Lucas fired a burst at its ribs—it flinched, but did not stop.

It shot forward, a blur of muscle and bone, wrapping around Evelyn’s arm with unnatural strength.
She scread as the barbs sank into her flesh.
Leon didn’t hesitate.
He grabbed a rusted tal pipe and swung hard, severing the tongue in one clean strike.
The Apex recoiled, a deafening screech shaking the buildings.
Black bile sprayed across the ground, sizzling on impact.
The Stalkers moved.
No More Running
A dozen Stalkers charged, their elongated limbs pulling them forward in unnatural jerks.
Lucas threw a Molotov, flas engulfing two of them in searing heat.
But the rest pushed through—bodies burning, claws still reaching.
Reaper smashed a brick into a Stalker’s skull, shattering its jaw.
But another pounced onto him, teeth snapping inches from his throat.
Mia shot it point-blank in the eye.
Evelyn, despite the pain, turned to the Apex Devourer.
Its chest was still heaving.
The wound where its tongue had been wasn’t healing.
A weakness.
“The chest!” she yelled.
“That’s where we hit it!”
The Final Gambit
Leon didn’t hesitate.
He pulled out two grenades, yanking the pins.
“Everyone MOVE!”
With all his strength, he hurled them directly into the Apex’s gaping chest cavity.
For a mont, everything went still.
Then—
BOOM.
The explosion ripped through the creature, flesh and bone splitting apart.
The Stalkers screeched in agony, their link to the Apex severed.
Smoke billowed.
The survivors stood in silence, staring at the shattered remains.
But Evelyn knew one thing.
This wasn’t over.
The Apex Devourer was only one of many.
And sothing even worse was out there.
