Mia gripped her pistol as she scanned the fog-shrouded streets.
“I don’t like this.
It’s too quiet now.”
Leon adjusted his rifle.
“That’s because we’re being hunted.”
Then, they saw it.
A figure crouched atop a crumbling skyscraper, illuminated by the fractured moonlight.
Its elongated limbs twitched unnaturally, its exposed brain pulsating with veins of black rot.
It was a new breed.
A Devourer Wraith.
The creature snapped its head toward them, sensing their fear.
Its mouth split open in a horrific grin, its tongue coiling like a whip.
Then, it leaped.

It moved faster than anything they had ever seen.
One mont it was on the rooftop—the next, it was in their midst.
Lucas barely stirred before Reaper yanked him out of the way, rolling just as the Wraith’s massive claws tore through the concrete where they had been standing.
Evelyn fired two rounds directly into its chest.
The Wraith lurched, but the wounds sealed instantly.
It was regenerating.
Leon gritted his teeth.
“Headshots only.”
Mia raised her shotgun and fired at point-blank range.
The Wraith screeched as the blast ripped into its skull.
For a mont, the monster staggered.
Then it twitched… and laughed.
The Unkillable Nightmare
The Wraith’s fractured skull reshaped itself, the gaping wound closing as if ti were reversing.
Evelyn’s blood ran cold.
“It’s adapting.”
The creature’s eyes locked onto them.
“We are endless.”
It lunged again.
This ti, they barely escaped.
Reaper grabbed a flare from his belt and ignited it, shoving it into the Wraith’s mouth.
The creature shrieked, its body convulsing as the flas spread through its insides.
It twisted and collapsed, twitching violently before falling still.
A heavy silence fell over them.
Mia exhaled.
“Tell that thing’s dead.”
Then Lucas whispered, his voice weak but certain:
“No… it’s calling more.”
And then, the howls returned.
From the rooftops.
From the streets.
From beneath the ground.
The Wretched Spawn had awakened.
