At the school, martial arts students being herded toward the shelters by their teachers saw it all through the windows.

They saw their teachers, their neighbors from down the street, all rushing resolutely toward the battlefield.

Flas of fervor ignited in the eyes of countless young people.

’This is what it ans to be a Martial Artist!’

...

The temperature was plumting.

Nearly ten thousand ters up.

The thin air and bone-chilling winds scraped painfully against Lin Ye’s cheeks.

In less than a minute, the Giant-Winged Demon had carried him to an unprecedented altitude.

The massive rift in the sky was now within arm’s reach.

Lin Ye could clearly sense the white pillar of light below that supported the rift. It was thinning at a visible rate, its radiance gradually dimming.

The Doctor and this monster had exhausted years’ worth of source energy accumulated in the base to make this final gamble.

Lin Ye’s attacks grew more ferocious.

But he quickly realized that the monster’s life force was far greater than he had imagined. He couldn’t kill it completely in such a short amount of ti—not yet!

A cold glint flashed in Lin Ye’s eyes. He dispersed the crystal lance piercing the monster’s chest.

Then, a nacingly shaped crystal longsword, shimring with an eerie purple light, materialized in his hand.

Lin Ye had never trained in the art of the blade.

But right now, he didn’t need technique. He needed pure, unadulterated cutting power.

The one and a half seconds it took to charge his powerful strike felt impossibly long to Lin Ye.

They were less than a hundred ters from the rift in the sky.

He lifted his head and caught a fleeting glimpse.

On the other side of the rift was a grotesque, phantasmagorical mirror world.

It, too, had skyscrapers, but their architectural style possessed a twisted, inhuman geotric beauty, as if pieced together from the skeletons of countless behemoths and fused with tal.

The sky was a perpetual, blood-red twilight.

The reflections of the two worlds t and overlapped at the rift’s edge.

This astonishing sight didn’t cause Lin Ye’s movents to falter in the slightest.

Charge complete.

With a low roar, Lin Ye swung the crystal longsword, carving a deadly arc through the air!

SHHNNKK—!!!

The Giant-Winged Demon let out a bloodcurdling shriek.

Its massive right wing was severed clean at the root, connected only by a stump of bone-white and a mangled mass of flesh and sinew!

Dark green blood was drawn into a long trail by the violent winds.

In that instant, Lin Ye even felt his cheek brush against the cold, ethereal mbrane that separated the worlds.

The next mont, their ascent reached its apex. Gravity took over.

The Giant-Winged Demon’s right wing could beat no more.

Man and beast, ten thousand ters in the air, began an irrecoverable plumt!

"Swallow him!"

"Quick, swallow him! There’s still hope! There’s still a chance!"

The Doctor’s twisted face materialized on the monster’s back, roaring madly.

He wanted the monster to devour Lin Ye, seize his perfect adaptability, and complete its final transformation.

However, an incredibly complex emotion—one that was entirely its own—flickered in the Giant-Winged Demon’s single remaining eye.

There was sorrow and longing for its holand.

There was the profound bitterness of shattered hope.

Finally, all these emotions coalesced into an icy, bone-chilling killing intent.

It stopped trying to fight its way back up.

It had given up on returning ho.

Using its sole remaining left wing, it carved a strange arc through the air, adjusting its trajectory.

Its target was no longer the sky.

It was the pillar below—fading, yet still brimming with destructive energy...

The pillar of light that shot to the heavens!

It would drag the human who had ruined everything with it, down into a hell of light and heat.

Mutual destruction!

The Giant-Winged Demon’s right claw ignored the crystal lance Lin Ye thrust at its chest, swiping down at him with reckless, suicidal abandon.

The wind from its claws shrieked with the grim finality of sothing ant to tear everything asunder.

Lin Ye knew exactly what the monster intended.

It was afraid he would escape.

The Giant-Winged Demon wanted to seize him, to drag him down into the all-destroying pillar of light below.

But Lin Ye had nowhere to run.

They were nearly ten thousand ters above the ground. If he let go of the monster, he would fall to his death all the sa.

So, he didn’t dodge.

Just as the massive claw was about to snap shut.

The crystal longsword in Lin Ye’s hand abruptly changed. With a flick of his wrist, his reverse grip on the hilt beca a standard one.

As they plumted, the blade elongated and narrowed, reforming into an incomparably sharp lance.

He aid the tip at the Giant-Winged Demon’s huge, hideous skull and thrust down with all his might!

CLANG!!!

The trendous clang of tal on bone was exceptionally jarring against the shrieking wind.

The lance accurately pierced the remaining flesh and tissue on the monster’s head but was stopped dead by an indestructible barrier.

It was the creature’s skull.

The tip of the lance scraped against the bone, throwing off dazzling sparks, but it wouldn’t budge another inch.

’Such hard bone!’

Lin Ye’s heart sank.

That montary delay was all it took. The Giant-Winged Demon’s massive claw had already seized him in a death grip.

The iron-like digits tightened one by one, threatening to crush his skeleton.

Then, its cavernous, bloody maw, gaping to its absolute limit, rushed toward him once more, bringing with it a foul, gusting wind.

Lin Ye angled the jamd crystal lance upward, using its shaft to desperately brace against the monster’s closing jaws.

The pull of gravity intensified. The Giant-Winged Demon flapped its sole remaining wing frantically, adjusting their angle of descent.

Like a teor, they plumted straight toward the energy pillar, which was slowly fading but still blazed with a brilliant white light.
