When Derug rose from the ground as if he were a new monster, full of muscles and even taller than , a chill ran down my spine. I instinctively used my Tar Appraisal to see how dangerous he was.

"Girls, this isn’t the sa monster we fought before, so be careful," I said to them. "He’s still a Demon, so Holy is still effective against him, but his physical strength is now greater than mine."
"Understood!" the three Valkyries replied in unison.
"Are you done chatting?" Derug said with his usual arrogant attitude, but this ti his new form and power gave him a solid basis to be so conceited. "You made a fool of when I was small, and now you’ll pay, one by one."
"Water Prison!" Justine didn’t wait even a second, using her water magic to trap the Demon. Then she continued, "Thunder!"
From the palm of her hand, a yellow bolt of electricity shot out, heading straight toward the Demon, who was surrounded by a sphere of water. Derug wasn’t just being drowned—the water also acted as a dium to conduct the electricity striking him. It was a good combo, but it wasn’t enough.
"Use Holy Blessing on the Water Prison one more—huh?" Justine stopped herself when she heard a loud crash coming from her own skill.
The sphere of water began to ripple. Once, then again, then twice more, the impacts growing faster and faster. Each ripple looked as if sothing was striking against the Water Prison. Derug was using his arms to slam against the water that contained him.
Now that his arms had reached maximum speed, he managed to completely destroy his prison. The only thing left of the Water Prison was the water scattered across the ground.
Derug looked at Justine, his single eye expressing all the hatred he felt for the girl. "You really know how to get on my nerves, four-eyes."
After saying that, Derug disappeared in the blink of an eye. At least, that’s what it seed like—in reality, he was just faster than , and my eyes couldn’t keep up with him.
The monster was in our backline, right in front of Alicia and Justine. "I’ll eliminate you two first!"
One of his arms shot toward Justine. By reflex, the girl who was once a mber of the Silver Fang raised her arm to protect her body, but that didn’t stop the blow from sending her crashing into the cave wall.
"Holy— Ugh!" Alicia was about to use her magic to paralyze the demon, but she was stopped by Derug. With one of his hands, the monster grabbed the young woman by the neck. Alicia shut her eyes as she gritted her teeth in pain. Her life was in Derug’s hands, her neck at risk of being snapped at any mont.
In a short span of ti, the demon neutralized two of my Valkyries. By the ti I fully realized what had happened, I was already furious. I didn’t know if I was more angry at myself or at Derug. I should have exterminated this demon when I had the chance, but I wouldn’t fail this ti.
"Holy Light!" I called out, using the skill Alicia had been about to cast.
Derug made a mistake. He was so enraged at Justine—because she had used Water Prison and laughed at his height—that he forgot he should have neutralized , the one who could also use Holy skills. And now the monster would pay the price for that mistake.
Divine light radiated through the cave, illuminating it as if it were the sun itself. The light blinded Derug, forcing him to release Alicia’s neck. The demon was now temporarily stunned by the powerful ray of light.
"Let’s go, Sarah!"
"You didn’t even need to say it," Sarah replied, and soon after, we said in unison, "Flash Thrasher!"
With a boost in agility, we rushed at Derug, unleashing rapid attacks against him. We both had the sa idea, even without communicating. We needed to neutralize his main source of damage first, and his four muscular arms seed like the perfect target.
The two of us managed to cut off Derug’s arms—each of us severing two from either side of his body. Then we passed through him, and with a leap, the demon moved away from us, putting several ters between us. The fallen lantern on the ground illuminated him before our eyes.
’We just need to pressure him a bit more, deal as much damage as possible with Holy Light and Holy Blessing. If we keep this up...’
"’We’ll be able to defeat him’—that’s what you’re thinking, isn’t it, brat?" Derug asked, his eye staring at mockingly.
"And if I am? Don’t think I’ll let you get away unpunished for what you’ve done," I said, anger in my voice.
Alicia was coughing on the ground after the attack—fortunately, she was in a better state than Justine. My Sage was unconscious on the ground, right where she had been thrown. A trail of blood ran down the girl’s forehead.
"Alicia," I turned to the blonde girl, placing myself between her and Derug, "please treat Justine’s wounds. I’m counting on you."
"Alright," Alicia said, her voice still hoarse but determined.
After I saw Alicia run toward Justine and begin applying her magic to the unconscious girl, I turned back to Derug. I had never been this furious—neither in this life nor in my past life. And the source of the fury building inside was the monster in front of .
"Hehehe, your face looks pretty scary right now, boy," Derug said, laughing at .
"Shut up! Nothing you say will let you escape punishnt."
"Is that so, boy? We’ll see," Derug said, and then he hunched his body.
His body trembled as if he were exerting himself. The scene was just as strange as the way this monster had obtained his form, but when I saw dark masses forming where his arms had been cut off, I understood.
Sarah stared at him, wide-eyed, and said, "Regeneration!"
