We finally decided to head to the dungeon, but not before Erina approached and placed her hand on my chest.

Alicia puffed her cheeks; she clearly didn’t like it when Erina tried to get closer to .

Sarah looked at her with a grim expression on her face, annoyed. "Do you really need it?"

While I was finishing explaining her skills and limitations to Justine, Diane ca running from inside the mine. She pointed at the map, showing that from the entrance there were two pathways we could follow.
"This path is blocked by debris." She pointed to the path to the left.
"And the other one?" I asked her.
"It’s sward by monsters. If it weren’t for my speed, I could get overwheld by them."
"You’re kidding, right? So how are we supposed to enter?" Sarah asked, exasperated, "There must be a way."
"And there is," a jovial voice said. A few steps away from us we saw that little boy standing there—Joseph’s son.
"Carl?" I said his na.
"Are you guys trying to enter the dungeon? The entrance is the worst way possible," the brat said in a tone of superiority.
"And how would you know sothing like that?" Sarah asked, irritated by the kid’s attitude.
"Obviously because I know an alternate path. Follow ." The boy waved at us and started walking.
That pedantic attitude of his was starting to annoy , but I didn’t have a better idea than following him, so we went after him.
The terrain near the mine entrance was sandy, but it was close to a forested area. We walked deeper into the woods until the boy stopped near a protruding rock with so foliage around it. The kid pushed it aside, revealing a small opening about half a ter wide.
"My friends and I found this so ti ago, before the mine turned into a dungeon."
"It’s pretty small," Alicia comnted.
"You can get in easily if you crawl. And the best part is that the passage doesn’t lead straight into a crowd of ghosts," the boy said with a grin. "For so reason they’re all gathered near the main entrance. You’ll still have to fight, but it won’t be nearly as bad."
"Does your mother know you’ve been sneaking into the dungeon?" Diane asked coldly.
"Huh!" The boy jumped in fright at Diane. It seed the assassin could easily strike fear into his heart.
"Your visits to the dungeon have sothing to do with the attack, don’t they?" I asked Carl.
He nodded, his face carrying a sad expression. "I thought that if I reached the core and destroyed it, everything could go back to normal. Maybe my friends could co back to the city. But the Boss of the Ghosts ordered them to chase . If it hadn’t been for Sarah, I..."
"You know the way from here to the core?" I asked, surprised.
"That’s very dangerous, Carl! I’m going to tell your mother about this later!" Sarah scolded the boy.
"All right, all right. We can worry about his punishnt later. Carl, can you mark on the map the path from inside to the core?"
The boy nodded in surprise. Maybe it was the first ti an adult had taken him so seriously. "But I have sothing to ask first."
I could already imagine what it was. "Clear the dungeon, right? That’s our job."
But the little boy shook his head. "Please defeat the monster inside that dungeon. If that thing gets out, it will be the end of us."
