The ground looked like it was covered in so sort of petrified roots that all led back to what could only be described as a giant stone heart. It was about 20 feet tall and looked like it was made out of the sa petrified wood as the roots. As we drew closer to it, my mind latched onto a detail from Gehenna’s story about her past. I knew exactly where we were and what this object was. She stopped next to a patch of stony ground that was scorched and blackened. I saw Gehenna’s eyes drift over the spot and then gaze shifted up to et mine. She nodded silently once and gave a small smile before turning and continuing to lead closer to the center of the room. When we finally reached what was once the source of Gehenna’s corruption, she reached out with her palm outstretched and pressed it flat against the side. After a mont she turned back towards and her expression caught completely by surprise. As she looked into my eyes, she had this… intense vulnerability that I had never seen on her before.
